Insane blower porting = SUCCESS!!!

If you read my thread about the burned up bearings and such, I fixed it and got it all together

Heres the inlet, I polished it and opened it up quite a bit

See heres how big it is now!

Heres my outlet BEFORE

Heres my outlet AFTER

A reference to how big it is

The mod was totally worth it!
IAT2 down 15-20 degrees and boost up 2-2.5 psi

If feels a **** load faster! Boost is limited to 80% in second gear and I was making 17 psi!!! Before I made 18-18.5 at 100% boost!!!

I'm sure port matching the inlet to the TB should help quite a bit.

Looks like you did a real good job. One question though, I thought that the boost levels were supposed to drop after porting the blowing?

just for some reason with that last pic, where youre fisting yourblower, it looks like youre sacrificing SOME structural integrity of it. But if you like it and youre saying its putting more power down then more power to you. Itd be interesting if somebody dyno'd stock, and then did this to see what it really makes after the mod.

I'd imagine you wouldn't make a whole ton more peak HP/TQ, but that the torque curve would turn into a shelf due to better boost at lower levels. Always nice to have that low end

the outlet actually hurts performance rather than helps it...

removing material isnt always smart...

how wouldn't it allow for more airflow at less pressure and with lower pressure comes lower temps.

Porting done correctly will lower boost. Boost is not a good thing with these blowers. You want CFM not boost. Boost is just backpreasure, which is not (in general) good.

From everything I've seen, porting a blower will increase boost, because the blower is now moving more air. You've free'd up restriction within the blower, and you've eliminated "heat spots" in the blower, so it will be cooler as well.

TVS, porting the outlet does not hurt it, and if it does, maybe you need to tell the 2,000+ 03-04 Cobra owners to put their stock blowers back on (and give up there 60+hp gain).

Blown4-Banger, can you upload the pics to CobaltSS.net? I can't see them from work. Thanks!

can you elaborate a little on that? why? more air flow = more power right?

but how could that lower your cubic feet per minute, if you are increasing the size of your blower housing?

I dont think he means it lowers your CFM, I think he means with that mod you may see lower boost BUT MORE CFM ........... I think
