anyone who has done this before...i need some help....ive got the crank removal tool between the door panel and the window crank and its been pushed in as far as it goes....but the crank doesnt come off....am i supposed to twist it off? or pull it off? or what?

 

youve got to make sure you have the retaining clip pushed out all the way, after that it just pulls straight out. its just a splined shaft.

 

i dont see a retaining clip anywhere though....how do you push out the retaining clip?

all im seeing is the handle beng held on by a single metal rod going from the door panel to the crank



god damn....well this is the last of my free time until wednesday...
please someone give me some answers for wednesday

what side of the crank is the retaining clip on? top, bottom, right or left? (for each door), how do i remove it? (the crank removal tool doesnt seem t be catching) and once its removed, how does the crank come out?

Is the tool in the picture the one you are trying to use? The tool should be flat, not curved. The tool should go the direction of the handle, the handle of the tool will be under the knob. You might have to wiggle it a little to engage the clip. When you push the clip, it will probably shoot out and get lost, so keep an eye on it! As an alternative, you could wrap a thin towel around the stem under the handle and pull it around until it snags the clip and pulls it out.
I hope this make sense, Its kind of hard to explain and can be frustrating to do.

i give up...im just gonna mask off the rest of the car

i took the balt and the tool to pep boys n even they couldnt do it...they said i might need a different tool (which isnt the case since you guys got it off with the tool in the above pic), but i went to a toolstore anyways n one of the cashiers had done it before...he told me to look for a little clip, really tiny, about the size of a paperclip in width, and i cant see **** (that plastic spacer is incredibly annoying btw)

im seriously thinking maybe they changed the crank in late production 06's or something, because im not seeing what everyone else is, and no one has been successful on my car yet....me, 2 friends, my dad, and the pep boys guys

 

I have a 2006, I removed mine with ease with this tool:

The "clip" is a basic small "C" clip wrapped around the co-centric shaft and handle, holding them together. It is small, and difficult to see, but it's there. Its a basic design that has been around forever really.

If you can't get it yourself, get some help to show you once. Once you figure it out the first time, all the following times will be easy.

I have the same problem with my '05 I cannot get this invisble clip out. I cant even angle my fat head around to see this clip! ARE YOU EVEN THERE CLIP!

 

The clip is there otherwise your window crank would come right off - you just have to get that tool wedged between the handle and the plastic washer and wiggle/push on the open side of this clip it till you see the metal clip sticking out -then hopefully you will be able to retrieve it - now that I've gotten mine off - I wonder how I am going to get it back on :P
