In Dash Monitor Problems

I have a 2006 chevrolet cobalt ss supercharged and i recently bought the Dual xdvd8181. i first had to buy a 130 dollar wire harness because of the onstar and chimes in my car. i have evertyhing hooked up, but when i hook the ignition wire up, my guages dont work and neither does the digital mileage or temperature display. Also, when i hook the ignition wire up. the unit turns on and operates but there is no sound coming out of the speakers. Please help with suggestions, ive heard alot about problems with hooking these up in cobalts. wondering if you could help.

sounds like a wiring issue. You sure you hooked up all the wires up correctly. Make sure the ones with the white line in them are actually going to the ones with white lines and not the all solid. I would definately double check your wiring.

I have a pioneer unit in my 2007 and i used the gmos-lan-03 harness and i wired up the ipod connector and everything works perfect.

Just because you got guages and onstar shouldnt make a difference with it not working. You just needed a different harness than what i needed.

Im guessing you got a glitch of your wiring.

Where and what color wire are you wiring the guages too? You dont get any sound at all?

That happened to me when I first had my headunit put in my 06 ss/sc. I had dotted lines through my DIC and all kinds of crap. They didnt have harnesses out yet I dont think that matched perfect so my buddy used a harness from a cavalier and rewired it and it fixed it. Hes certified in some kinda electrical crap for cars so it worked out and I wouldnt even try it.

I by no means know anything about the cobalt eletrcially but I'll post anyway...

I don't think that the 06's need that 130 dollar adapter....i thought only the 07's did.
