New GM perf parts coming

I just got word from a couple of guys at GMPP through my dad that within about 8 months we 2.2L and I guess 2.4L guys will see some new GMPP items. Bigger injectors, a harness and a new tune, all warranty friendly. The tune is specifically for the 2.2L with GMPP intake, exhaust, exhaust manifold, and injectors. Idk if it is 05-06 or 07 because of the different computers. They have finished most of the testing and are gearing up for production right now.

Can you post a link or something to support this? Those of us driving the base model are a little skeptical of GMPP supporting our cars. We have a tendency to get left out, especially since our trim stopped being produced in 2006.

Actually, in potential sales GMPP is missing the boat. There are a LOT more 2.2's out there than 2.0's and 2.4's. Plus, if the upgrades are reasonable, there are a lot of people who would be interested.

well if this information is true then i would say that gm has something in store for the 2.2 and 2.4....mainly the 2.4....its a bit random to just release a harnass and fuel injectors with no intention of releasing something that will utlize their potential...but thats IMO

Ill have to keep my eye on this one. It would be cool to get some factory backing for the 2.2's

I don't know why they'd offer new injectors with just modifications of bolt ons...that just seems a bit unecessary.

yes there are lot more but oe could argue that most 2.2L owners aren't interested in more power---otherwise they would have bought a 2.4 or 2.0 S/C.

At anyrate, I hope this is true--and the 2.4L gets this as well. My car is desperately in need of 40 more hp

This is coming from my dad, a GM employee for over 25 years. He has built his connections with a lot of guys in high places with GM. Besides he's not the kind of guy to lie about this stuff anyways.

As I said before there is a tune with the injectors and harness. I forgot to mention, they were still considering a throttle body upgrade as well. It's probably not going to be a whole package like the Stage 2 or 3, it is most likely going to be just individual parts.

Anyways, I know this will get a lot of hopes up, but it is the honest truth. The GMPP reps told my dad within 6 months, but I know how GM is, that's why I said 8 months just to cover my own @$$.

This is COMPLETELY speculation on my part, but I have an idea about what this might be. GMPP has their intake and exhaust manifold for the L61 Cobalt, and certain late model 2006 cars can't use them because of the Secondary Air Injection system (SAI).

Perhaps the reflash is a new program for the ECM that would allow the use of these parts and the deletion of the SAI.

maybe its a tb, injectors, and a tune??????????

i can see it beeing a honed header for the late 2.2ers, but then again, us early folk dont have any tuning uptions as they do...

its a toss-up

That would be sick. This SAI is bs...

also keep in mind that GM is trying to get a piece of the billion dollar aftermarket to help in their sales.

GM needs the money. Hopefully the parts they produce earn that money. I'm really pulling for GMPP to make good stuff, but GM has a tendency not to live up to expectations.

GM has lived up to my expectations on a fun car to drive -- my Cobalt. If GMPP provides some more 2.2L performance parts in addition to the I, E, + M I'll be ordering them as soon as they're available. Since GM designed the 05-06 2.2L ECM I have no doubt they could provide an upgraded performance-usable reflash if they wanted to.
