How can I reduce wheel hop?
I did some searching on the forum about how to reduce wheel hop and I came up with poly engine mounts, poly tranny mounts and poly control arm mounts. what I cant find is where to start. I dont get it all that often so I dont think I'll need all that stuff, and I dont want all that vibration. So what should I try first? Or would there be a problem if I didnt replace them all? thanks
The easiest way is to trade down to a 2.2.
But seriously, as long as you are going with the poly mounts, there shouldn't really be too much vibration. Just do them one at a time and see how it goes. Its definately a good investment; it preempts any power mods you might do. Good luck!

the biggest thing is decide how much hop you've got. SC and 2.4 do it a lot more than 2.2s and need more to keep them settled. Also, how often is it an issue. if you only go to the track on occasion, i'm thinking that doing firmer, yet still soft mounts may help just enough without hurting ride.
I have yet to go to the track, nearest ones like 2 hours away, just occasional aggresive driving on the street, so it doesnt happen very often, but I would like to settle it down. So is it ok to have 1 or 2 mounts poly and the rest rubber? I notice the tranny mounts are pretty cheap, would that be a good place to start?
newer upper engine mount, whats this. I thought there were only 3 mounts, 1 engine, on the passenger side, and 2 tranny, one front and one back, what am I missing?

If you've got an aftermarket intake... try an Ingalls dampner first... it does a really good job at keeping wheel-hop down... and I bet it'd work ideally with a 2.4. Unless you are gonna be doing some serious forced induction mods it should be enough for you.

this is what i'm talking about. heard good things. but the ingalls isn't a bad idea either... it'll just keep it somewhat controlled and is adjustable.

ok, so its pretty much narrowed down to either a poly engine mount, or poly tranny mounts. Im kinda thinkin tranny mounts cuz theyre cheaper. unless anyone has a reason to do engine mount instead.
Tranny mounts, Motor mounts, Ingalls, Control Armed brushings, Traction bars.

I have the Ingalls ETD. It helps a little bit, but I still have some hop. However, I dont intend on switching my mounts out ever, as I drive my car ALOT on a daily basis and I don't want the harshness that the stiffer mounts tend to produce. Just start with the Ingalls ETD and build on that as you get more power adders.
