Hesitation on stock SS/SC
Hesitation on stock SS/SC
Ok, don't flame me about searching, did my research, still some unanswered questions. I'm having a slight hesitation, almost a lean stutter between 2-3.5k rpms in 2nd and 3rd gear under half to WOT. I've seen this covered on Stage 2 vehicles and it was corrected by reflashing, and I hope I'm not the only bone stock 06 Cobalt SS/SC on the forums having this problem. I have heard that there is a TSB out for it but I have been to 2 dealerships and been told that it's "supposed to feel like that" which is bullshit, I know it, you know it, my father has been a Dodge techie for 22 years and he knows it. If anyone has the number of that TSB be it a flash or whatever the fix may be, some help or advice would be appreciated. I've only got like 9k miles on my 06 and it's stuttering and acting stupid and really making me dislike my beautiful Cobalt.
Mine does that when I clutch and come to a stop too, the whole bouncing around thing, but one issue at a time, the hesitation is what's bugging me right now lol. I'm in N. Tampa, up off North Dale Mabry Lutz/Land o Lakes area.
I just called the Chevy dealership with the best service department in my area and he says there are NO open bulletins on my VIN. Then he mumbled some shtuff about GM not disclosing the bulletin or something or other. I swear if I go 0 for 3 on dealerships trying to get this fixed, I'm going to lemon and buy another one jeez. But he wants me to bring it in, trouble is no openings til next week, this is pathetic, I never had so many problems on my Jeep.
I've just about had enough though. The Cobalt is my 5th GM car I have bought and its probably going to be the last if I cant find a dealership that can treat people right. Funny thing is I have the factory warranty and then an additional bumper to bumper warranty on top of that until my lease is up.
But back to the topic...
The dealership isnt correct there is a PCM calibration that can be updated to stop that from happening. What is described is exactly what my car was doing.
Xtreme do you have the reflash part number, does it match the one in the thread linked above? I'm having the hardest time getting GM to acknowledge the problem. How did you describe the problem, is it related to the rough idle? They seem to have no problem acknowledging that.
Ah Ha! Just for the people who have this problem as well and are catching crap from the dealers like I am, I have the part numbers!
Part number: 12610926
New calibration to address idle surge condition also contains diagnostic enhancements for DTC P0171.
And another that also mildly concerned me.
Part number: 12605264
New calibration to address idle stability robustness under heavy A/C load.
These part numbers match my VIN which is a 2006 G85 SS/SC. I'll be taking it to my local dealer and demanding these 2 flashes later this week or next. Thanks for all who helped and encouraged me to research this beyond the dealer's "it's supposed to do that" b.s.

I finally got mine fixed there was a whole new engine calibration module they loaded it contained like 3 or 4 different packs. I just went to
http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web
punched in my VIN and you can look through the different modules see what they contain.
