Cobalt= Healthiest interior!

The Chevrolet Cobalt earned top honors on Tuesday as the vehicle with the healthiest interior air space, according to the Ecology Center, an environmental group based here. The vehicles with the worst interior air quality included the Chevy Aveo, Nissan Versa, Scion xB and Suzuki Forenza.

The group has a full list of its results at its Web site. Many cars and trucks did well in the tests, including the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Honda Odyssey and Volvo V50. The Cobalt had the lowest level of toxic chemicals in its interior, but other Chevy products did not fare as well. The Aveo, Express van and Silverado placed in the bottom 10, according to the guide.

The group checked different interior parts, including steering wheels and seats, for chemicals that have been linked to everything from allergies to birth defects.

What this means to you: As if price and features aren't enough, here's one more thing to consider when shopping for a new vehicle.

Our interior smells great now. We hauled a bunch of firewood when we went camping last weekend. Smells like the forest now.
