Tranny died
Tranny died
Yeah so saturday night i was drivin out to sonic and on the way there i nail it pretty hard outta second and go to hit it into 3rd to find absolutely nothing and no other gears also. just a total empty box of nothing but air. so as i slowly roll down the busy street i finally make it publix at like 12 mph and park it into a spot and opened up the hood. To find everything from the shifting weight to the inside of the gear box in the car to be totally fine or atleast looking that way. so we drag it home with my brothers truck and call onstar to tow the sucker sunday up to the dealer. Well i got a call from my dad who works at the dealer and said that they decided that they are just going to replace the whole tranny after getting on the phone with michigan. they said it would be about 5 days to 10 business days but it could be like 6 weeks at most. The only awesome question is that since i believe im getting a whole new tranny am i getting another clutch and all to go with that? And does anyone think i should just give up the SS and buy something that can handle the abuse? maybe camaro, trans am, GTO? alright thanks for ready yall.... later
hey i had a problem similar to that about three months ago, had my entire tranny replaced under warranty!! and no the clutch and everything doesnt get replaced just the transmission, thats what i thought too! Stick with the balt man
anything that you abuse will break...just the nature of the game. the trans am and camaros have bad rears(ask me how I know) not to mention the clutchs are weak...then you have the crappy wheel hoppin irs in the gto..not to mention the almost 2 ton weight.
haha yeah that sounds about right thats what the people the drive camaros forever tell me about them. if its an m6 then the clutch are not strong for any decent amount of time and if its not the clutch the rear end goes for on the auto then manual but still. I guess no matter what you drive you wanna go fast its going to break the faster you go. But i suppose if you buy a honda then you wouldnt have to worry about going fast or breaking anything since you wont be going fast unless its a ..... CRX with yet another motor swap or something

I've got a 2002 SS with an M6. The clutch on my car is very strong, handles stock power very well IMO. I've done my share of WOT blasts through all gears and no probs at ALL. Also, there are people running 11s with the stock 10 bolt rear end. I think it's all in how you drive it, there are ways to drive at max potential without abusing the car.

yeah that is just the way i saw things if really want to fly like there is no tomorrow its probably better to buy a vette or something or whatever else with in ls1,2,7 family or if your really broke the lt1 side of things. and no new clutch i wanted to put a spec 2+ clutch in it but they think they will have it all back together by tuesday when at the earliest the clutch would get there is tuesday. oh well any ideas on tranny mounts on what is going to make this tranny last a little longer?
