All the badges on the sides/back are just held on with double sided foam tape. They are very easy to remove. The front bowtie, I beleive has pegs that hold it in, so I haven't tried taking this one off yet.

Use a heat gun (I used a blow dryer), some fishing line, goo-gone and some free time.

Basically, just warm up the badges with the blow dryer (don't keep it on there for a long time, as you can damage the paint, just get the badges warm, and reheat as you work your way behind the badge)

After the badge is warmed up, the glue on the foam tape starts to loosen. Take your fishing line, and work it under the back of the badges. Be patient, and reheat the glue constantly. The warmer the glue, the less you have to fight with at the end to clean it up.

I wish I took pictures during the job. I ended up getting impatient, and had a HUGE chunk of foam tape stuck on the back of the car after taking off the bowtie. And that was a bitch to get off after.

Once the badges are off, just scrub away the glue/foam with the Goo-Gone, and then make sure to go wax the car, as the goo-gone will take off any wax you might have already on the paint, and it will look uneven.

Debadging FTW! Though I'm still debating taking the SS emblems off of mine.

With mine, I'm taking off every emblem except the SS ones on the doors. All of the SC ones are coming off as well as the Chevy symbols and the cobalt SS one in the back.

How I did my Chevy symbol on the rear truck and the GM ones on the fenders, my husband just started wiggling the emblem and eventually it came off but left the adhesive. We just used some adhesive remover, sprayed in on and used your finger to roll it off....your fingers tend to hurt afterward, but thats how I've done it on all of my cars I've debadged and never had a problem. Just make sure you wax the area after your done otherwise you still see the outline of what was there.

Note: if you emblems are stuck on better than mine (like they've been on the car for a while) you can use fishing line and work its way under the emblem to get it free from the adhesive. Thats what I had to do with my Z24 when I was debadging that since the glue was so old.

yeah i talked to a guy at the body shop yesterday who just de-badged his car and he used the blowdryer like you mentioned... i'm pretty excited to do this. now comes the "what to take off/leave/move" conversation...

yeah i'm thinking about:
pulling GM off both sides...
leaving the SS Supercharged on the sides...
Pulling the cobalt off the back...
??moving the SS all the way to the left (or over the "supercharged" on the right)
Pulling the back bowtie OR pulling the gold off the silver, painting black, and re-mounting
and possibly pulling the gold off the front bowtie, blacking out, and re-mounting...

Very easy to do.
you will need:
1. Fishing line
2. Goo Gone
3. Clean 100% cotton cloths
4. wax

Guide the fishing line under the badge, move it back and forth like a saw until the badge is lifted off. (dont worry if it leaves some glue behind)
then, take your rag, apply the goo gone, rub the glue off the car.
wash and wax the area (the goo gone will remove the wax leaving your paint exposed to the elements)

if you followed the simple instructions, your car should be de-badged:cssNET:

the front badge is easily removed as well..
take the clips out from the plastic shield that covers the radiator and intercooler. you will need a flathead screwdriver for this.

then remove both 10mm bolts holding it on. paint it. reinstall in reverse. done

I used tooth floss because I didn't have any fishing line :). Went through a couple strands but worked fine!

you can get colormatched spray paint and clear at your dealer. it's less than $10 for an 8oz. can. you only need 1 color can, and 1 clear can... you will have extra

don't throw them away, you may find cool ways to re-use the badges. i put the word cobalt infront of the SS badge inside the car on the passenger side.
i also have plas to use the ss and supercharged badges under the hood and elsewhere.

you may not want to do this, but i bet you could sell the ss s/c badges on our classified thread

anyone who debadged looking to dump there door 'ss' badges? i'm looking for 2 in good shape....pm me.
