Numbers and Facts to help with exhaust/headers

I know that at certain power levels it is good to upgrade to say .25 inch larger exhaust...200hp I belive is good with a 2.25...a 2.5 is the largest...possibly lose power...I believe...

So say you take a Stage 2 Cobalt SS S/C, with Airbox mod. What combo with headers and exhaust would be best gain?

I love how you can get GMPP header and exhaust and still retain warranty so you can get from the beginning and after the engine pushes it out, but is it the same gains? It sounds good, we all know, there are even better sounding setups...but possibly lose gains...

Say without...the header and exhaust the car is making...240whp and 230wtq...what is the best setup to add more power?

And just for additional bonus, for you owners you have the setup you claim, which sounds the best?

I am in the same boat as you. I am really unsure of what is the best header set up yet. I do think that the GMPP manifold would be best if you want to keep the low end torque, whereas a true header is better if you want more power at the higher ranges. I am personally waiting to see what clear image's header does (its a 4-2-1 design)

If i were to buy something right this second, I would either do the ZZP header and downpipe, or the GMPP manifold and ZZP downpipe...

Then again...everyone always wants more power But sometimes those power either cost MORE money...or even sound bad...it is somewhat hard to get the sound you want, the price you think is right and the gains you want . I think I would want low end torque a little more...
I believe...I forget relaly...4-1 header is more towards tq, and 4-2-1 is more hp gain...?

GMPP is nice...but..what are all the sizes compared next to each other? I am thinking it is the smallest...that is always not the best....

I am guessing GM will only have warranty under THEIR exhaust/header and a GM Mechanic installs it.

I have a goood friend who is a GM Mechanic which is nice, hes a good friend, he helped me out when i was working on my head job on my last car...I never tore apart top part of an engine, work on cams, timing(pfff only was a SOHC...so blah) I forgot to drain the antifreeze...OOPS!

Isn't there a thread...might be something like it...but with everyones setup, video and explanation? Like this is stock, this is stage 2, stage 2 with airbox, stage 2 with injen, stage 2 with headers, stage 2 header and exhaust, almost EVERY combo...stop a lot of people asking questions too plus SWEEEEEEEEEEEETNESS thread it would become.

Simple enough, the more power you need the more clearance you need with the pipes...

your only puttin 216 wtq down? Seems a little shy..if i grab a ss( I am in a heated debate what to get...This, GTI, the NEW WRX(going to reveal it in 11 days), New Legacy GT are contenders. I just really like everything is under warranty, decent price for the car. Well what I was goin to say I would love to see with intake, stage2, headers and exhaust, and stiffy, I would love to see...a good 250whp and 235wtq.... Pure happyness

cars...such a money pit,haha

Well, if what you're getting at is your like warranty, then just do everything GM. Get stage 2, get the GMPP header and exhaust and call it a day. You'll get the power you want and be under warranty. Asking about certain headers and then talking about warranty is kind of hypocritical...because if you want the power, you should be ready to lose that warranty. Just my .02

Yes, agreed, but we all know we can get power with stg 2, but we want a bit more...Intake is an easy fix...why I might not do the KN cone with cutting stock airbox...just so I can replace it to the exact stock airbox if I need to take it in to the dealer...

I know catback exhaust deaelrs can't take away the warranty...as long as you don't replace the cat...so forth so on...just the headers and downpipe section.

Then again might have a really cool dealer that lets it go...
