Hey guys, first post here as I am hopefully getting a Cobalt tomorrow. Here is my situation.


I want the SS fully loaded, except the sunroof. The main issue seems to be that I also want the side curtain airbags, and suddenly the Chevy dealer is telling me after the fact that he can't find a Cobalt in the whole country with side curtain but without sunroof. My Cobalt was supposed to be coming in tomorrow btw.


Total price of the car is $24,660. I am planning on leasing it with $2500 down. Talked the guy down to $264/month lease payments pre tax. If I go with one with a sunroof my payments jump to $284.


So here are my questions.

1) I had wanted Red. I think I will have to go with Black if I take this. Any opinions on Black? I think it looks pretty slick, worried about how hot it will be in the summer though.

2) Is the sunroof worth it? Or do I even want it? Are there any reasons not to get a sunroof? I am worried about possibly losing headroom, not sure if this is true.

3) Does anyone know if the prices I got sound pretty fair? The dealer is telling me it is going out at cost because it was their screwup, but it seems like a big jump for the sunroof.

my SS n/a has the airbags and sunroof.

i had a problem with my sunroof. it was leaking water when it rained, but honestly, i dont think i will buy another car without one. this is my first car with a sunroof and i just love the airflow. especially during the summer. cuts down on my A/C use and looks cool when its open lol.

 

i have an 07 SS/SC with a sunroof and side airbags.. i love it, i wouldn't have it any other way, can't think of any reason NOT to have one. my car is the victory red color you were looking at, very nice choice of a color, but the black is a slick color also.. good luck with your carr man.

 

Thanks for the response guys. I'm going to call the dealer in the morning and see if I can talk the price down a bit more. If all goes well I should pick it up after work. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

 

To get the color and options I wanted, the sun roof came with it. Never had one, but its great. Keeps the car cool when opened during the day. Can look at the stars at night. With just the cover opened, give you some much light, its like your outside. If you can afford it, get the sunroof!

I got about 10% off sticker price, and got about $1K more than my trade was worth.

 

Watch your dealer is not just searching in his 100 km range,I had a dealer do that and I did the search my self on the GM build a car site.
They dont want to lose out on the extra cost to bring it in from farther away.

Did you get a price from more than one dealer ?
Keep an eye on your residual value(price its worth after lease )
Sunroof can. is what 1100.00 dollar option option
$20.00 x lease term in months = worth it or not

I am now the proud owner of a very sexy Black '07 Cobalt SS.

Talked the dealer down to 274/month for payments and I couldn't be happier with the car. Still trying to get the seat just right, but I spent the whole evening just burning across the city.

 

congrats man! yea i have an 06 ss/sc black w/ red leather inside...only downside is keeping it clean and those damn rock chips, and door dings from stupid highschool bitches that cant seem to park the jeep their mommy and daddy bought them so they hit my door when they open theirs.....

 

Congrats... Did you get the SS S/C or just SS?

 

274/Month and it's in Canada. I'm going to guess it's a Lease for a SS/NA
