View Full Version : Tour of Lordstown Assembly Complex
Rally_Yellow_SS/SC 09-08-2005, 09:36 PM Would anybody who owns or is looking into getting a Cobalt like to see how the car is actually put together at the factory?
As a owner of a Cobalt SS Supercharged, I would love to take a tour of the Lordstown Assembly Complex and see how my Cobalt is pieced together from A to Z. Only problem is the fact that I've been told that the plant doesn't offer tours anymore. However, if we can get a group of Cobalt owners together, maybe Jonel, as the webmaster of CobaltSS.net, can set something up for us to get us in the plant. Not only would we get to see how the Cobalt is built, but also see each other's Cobalts and maybe do some type of cruise. Just an idea that I'm throwing around. Post replies as to whether this would be possible, seeing how the plant is basically on the OH/PA border and would be a long haul for some Cobalt owners.
JonyyB 09-08-2005, 09:40 PM I tried to arrange this a few months ago but the plant was “under construction”. They told me they have not done any tours in over a year. Give them a call; maybe they are doing them again. If its open for visits, I would be glad to put something together

TimDang 09-15-2005, 01:06 PM I'm right outside Pittsburgh so if it's on the PA/OH border I'm there! Keep us updated or PM me I'll be willing to help organize if we get an OK from Lordstown
The 27th element 09-15-2005, 05:31 PM your going to have to make it worth there while.
There not going to do it for 5-10 people.
Why not work on having some type of show there next spring/summer and incorperate the tour w/ that?
I`ll make a couple calls and see what i can can do or find out for you.
Frenstall 09-15-2005, 08:54 PM I've been to lordstown, it's a rather old plant but certainly a treat to any SS owner (which I am one of) given all the special treatment the SS gets
RedSS 09-15-2005, 09:15 PM I'm in as well. I called a few months ago and they said no so don't get your hopes up.
RpSS4844 10-31-2006, 05:28 PM Well I guess I am beating a dead horse here.....has anyone been on a tour here yet? I am going to be in the area and have been trying to call them, but the line has been busy for a while now. On the recording is says "for plant tours press 2" then I get the busy signal. I got in touch with security and the guy was so crazy.....he couldnt tell me anyone to get in in touch with, didnt know of any other phone numbers I could call, didnt know anyone who MIGHT know who I can talk to. I just had to say ok and hang up.
Anyone else know of a phone number I could call, I have 330-824-5000?

RpSS4844 11-01-2006, 04:42 PM I just sent GM an professionaly written email. Hopefully I can get a respoonse.
RpSS4844 11-10-2006, 02:34 AM Well I got a response back today from my email. Notice that it list the Lordstown Plant as still manufacturing the Cavalier. I dont think these people and the people at the plant are on the same page. Either way, my quest goes on to arrange for a tour!!!:guns:
