2.0L driving styles poll. which are you?

Seems like I've seen a number of posts with.......

"ya i smoked my tires lik fo 20 feets!!!one1!!! like 10 times a daye!@@@"

"wonder if they will warranty this or call it abuse?"

"<insert im a ******* kid and I redline the car every single time I move it since it had 9 miles on it>"

Apparently some people don't know what a break-in period is. For those of you, I feel bad for your cars. Course you'll probably wrap it around a tree sooner or later.....so its a crap shoot what will happen to it.

Personally, I got on mine a little once before 500 miles. Am at 700 now and drive what I call almost normally in it, no burnouts or anything, but I'll drive it harder after 1000 miles when I change the oil.

Thoughts?

Why change the oil at 1000mi? It's got additives from factory and on top of that it's mobil1 so it will definateyl last the normal 3000. If it was plain ol normal factory no-name oil then I would change at 1000, I think it's almost a waste of money at 1000. But I agreee, I drive her responsibly, only twice have I gotten on it hard, once around 700mi cause I couldn't hold out, and once again after the K&N filter drop-in which was yesterday at 1850mi

I have 14,000 kms on my car now. I was good to it during break in and now I drive easy about 90% of the time. The other 10% makes having this car FUN. I don't race on the street and my most spirited driving is on the freeways. After the mods come out, between now and spring, I will take it to Mission Raceway and have my fun there.
As for oil I did my first at 3500KM and my second was done at 40% oil life.

The only break-in I gave it was for the clutch and took it easy for about 100 miles . Then it was to the wood for me

I broke it in easing it into the full rmp range until about 1000 miles. I drive it normally now for the most part.

Driving your car like a granny during break in does more harm than good. You should be on the throttle pretty hard and doing a lot of engine braking.

The 2 things you need to baby are the clutch and the brakes. You want the engine itself put through the paces a bit to seat the rings properly.

The owners manual clearly recommends not to do any engine braking for the first 500 miles.

Its been showen time and time again that owners manuals don't give the best break in procedures.

The only reason they say this is for those that don't know how to double clutch because it puts more strain on your clutch than is recommended during break in. Engine breaking is the best thing for seating your rings.

well ill comment on the test drives in the ss/sc and the redline

pretty much drove it like i stole it

the redline i even drifted around a corner , granted it wasnt ententional , i took a corner at a high speed , and the tire slick they used on the sidewalls , is what caused the rear to break loose and drift , good thing the 1 i drove had the LSD , or it woulda been messy

the sales lady in the back seat left pleasure stains as it was , lol

when i put the s/c on my cav before i had the reflash , i drove the hell out of it that night

but 90% of my driving is closer to grannie , than ricky road racer

yeah, i drove the ***** out of all the cars i drove, just seeing what it would do, you kno?

Then, i went to another dealership and bought my SS S/C that had only been there 5 days, figured that one was reasonably ok.
