Anyone with problems on their Lowered LS/LT?
Anyone with problems on their Lowered LS/LT?
Hey guys.
I've got an LT and after seeing how much better the car looks after being lowered, I decided to do that as my first "large" mod. So I came around to see how the experience with lowering springs was, and it seems that, for the SSs, everything works wonders.
But reading a bit, I came to realize that adding lowering springs to the stock struts would eventually screw the suspension up. Some say it might happen in two weeks, six months, and others say that it's all good even after 48k miles. So I'm really at a loss here.
I personally don't know how often you need to replace your struts, although I know they need to be replaced at some point.
So, anyone with an LS/LT who can share some experience? I'm really looking forward to getting her lowered, but I don't have the means to be buying the Konis as of now :\

eventually your struts will blow and start to leak fluid. your car will still be driveable, but the ride quality and performance will get progressively worse. mostly when you hit a bump your gonna really feel it since you will have almost no absorbtion.
i lowered mine anyway cause eventually other companies will come out with aftermarket struts and prices will go down.

I see. Roads here are pretty good, but like in everywhere, there're bumps and depressions here and there, so I guess that's inevitable.
I know this might be "taking the cheap way out", but wouldn't it be, say, cheaper just to buy new stock struts and wait until they blow up again? I know this isn't the most intelligent way to do things, since that second time they blow, you probably have already paid more than the cost of the Konis. But since I'm still a second-year student and jobless, money is hard to come by, so I don't want to go the cheap way just to need to spend more in the end, since I know that's gonna affect not only me, but others as well.
Well, anyone who's come across this problem already? I'd really like to hear from someone who had to replace their struts after being lowered. Timing would be interesting to know as well.
