Got a Black 2006 Cobalt SS Today (w/pics)

Hey Guys,

So I went down to the local chevy dealer today just to throw around some numbers and whatever to see how much a Cobalt would run me a month and wouldn't you know it, 4 hours later I'm driving off the lot with a 2006 Cobalt SS . But here's the story in a nutshell of what went down. So I went to Hendrick's Chevy (absolute great service. the staff was A+ ), I told them that I wanted a Rally Yellow SS/SC. They didn't have any on the lot but they found one at another dealership. So while I was waiting for them to run my credit check they had me test drive a Silver 2006 SS (if at this point you haven't realized it's not a S/C). So I was driving it around and know I understand why people say they fall in love with this one even though it's not a S/C. Hendrick's is 25 acres, so we were driving around and I saw this black SS, which happened to just got off the truck yesterday and I just mentioned to the salesman that car was hot. So we're running numbers on the 05, which it was absolutely fully loaded, it had everything. Even with employee pricing on the 05, the 06 came out to be $2500 cheaper, and like I said before when I was test driving it I fell in love with it. So before I knew it, and everything just happened so quickly, I was driving off in a Black 2006 SS . Goodbye Focus, cuz that car would have been seriously been Found On Road Dead pretty soon. Shifting on the car is great too. I have very little manual driving experience and it has been a breeze to pick up on this car. I'm already gonna get the windows tinted on Wednesday. Here's the pics.

Congrat to a feloow 2.4L SS owner. Black is sharp but take care of that paint! Shows scratches easy. Just get rid of that lame dealer sticker on the back

Yeah, I'm gonna give the car a very detailed cleaning and wax tomorrow and that dealer sticker is coming right off. It was the first thing I noticed when I looked at the back.

The day I picked up my 05' SS/SC, I was doing the walk around on the car with the salesman and told him first thing that comes off was the dealer sticker. He sais they just put it on today so.........he just peeled the thing off right there and then and stuck it on my shirt and said,"There you go!!!!!"

The car was $21,050 MSRP. Options on the car were Airbags, Sound System (7 speaker, XM, CD/MP3), and sunroof. I added an extended warranty to 6 yrs/100,000 for $2021 and I'm getting Window tints through the dealership for $325 (All windows), but I got a whole whopping $500 for my 2000 Focus and put $7000 down. So I'm only financing $17033. I got a 7.75% interest rate, so if I only make the minimum payment every month for the next 5 years the car will cost me a total of $28100 + $7000 I put down for a grand total of $35100

ouch! Thats a killer interest rate.

What I am more socked at it is $500 trade in on your Focus!

I got $1000 for an 87 Mazda 323 (okay that Canadian--but thats like $840 USD) through a program called Car Heaven. A GM sponsored program. The MP3/Pioneer speakers are standard equipment in Canada...interesting.

I got a good laugh at that. The car was ready to die at any moment. They probably realized that when they drove it around. It's gone and off of my hands, I could've cared less if they asked me for money in order for them to take it . Never getting a Ford again.

At first I thought it was just one big sticker, but when I washed my car today I took a closer look and each letter, and the chevy emblem is it's own sticker.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments. It's nice to finally be on the inside and not just an outsider looking in anymore.

Awesome car, I have the exact same (sans leather seats) on order....should be in by mid october .
Though you probably haven't had it opened up yet, how does 2.4l feel? Enough power for you? I only got to test drive an auto, so i didn't really get a feel for it at all. But I agree, after first test driving the SC and then the N/A I fell in love with it (even with that icky auto).

Well I washed the car Sunday morning and my sunday evening it was covered in pollen again But I'm gonna give the car another wash this weekend, since I'm actually have a weekend off and I'll take some more pics, especially close ups.

The engine has been great so far, but I'm still breaking in the engine. The car only had 10 miles on it when I pulled off the dealer lot with it.
