Only 10psi and 0 in first gear.
Only 10psi and 0 in first gear.
Ok, I am getting close to 3k miles and I can only still hit 10psi. And in first gear it only seems to go to zero, although this is during normal driving. Do you only get boost when your really on it in first gear?
I have done no mods, I'm completely stock. I have looked over the hoses. The only issue I have is that bolt digging into my intake tube that goes into the sc. The hole doesn't look like it has gone all the way through though. I am just waiting for my k&n typhoon to get here (couple more weeks) so I'm not gonna have the dealer replace the tube.
Anyway I also use 'middle' grade, basically 89 octane. Would that have anything to do with it? or being that my sc intake tube is getting dug into?
I suppose for my next fill up I could get 93 octane but that crap is expensive lol.
Any suggestions?

I believe the PCM will only utilize the boost if you are getting into the throttle... Somebody may know better then me though..
You have to launch hard and hammer it to even have a chance to see full boost in 1st gear. Driving normally I might see the gage hop up to 3-5psi before I upshift to 2nd, that is assuming I'm not stuck in traffic behind a bunch of slow ******** on cell phones
IMO it's worth the extra .80cents-$1.00 to fill up on 93, but if your really hurting that bad...the car calls for 91 minimum I believe? Trust me, I was stupid and use to run 87, my 1/4 and acceleration was affected by lower grade gas.
Hmmmm, Anytime in 1st I can max my boost gauge (10.5)
- When I am allready rolling say 10mph and punch it. it happens quick but it happens
- From a dead stop take off as soon as RPM's are there so is boost

The PCM will retard the timing if you use low octane fuel, not sure though if it will not allow the bypass valve to close fully.
Note: My boost goes from 10 to 11.5 if I disable the bypass valve. Since I'm not the only one that has noticed this, there may be some other factor (mechanical maybe) that does not fully close this valve. When I pull the blower for the pulley change, believe me I will be looking at this closely.
dealer said wait till 5,000 km if your nto gettign 12.5 then bring it in well atleast thats what my delaer told me... cuz GM wont do anythign unless its after 5,000 km because thta shwne GM says the cars worked in and anythign wrong after that should be fixed...
GM recommends running the car with premium (91 octane) for the SS/SC model however, it is possible to run it on lower grade fuel. Downside = very noticable reduction in performance when running low octane. I have tested this myself within a 48 hour period and will never go to low grade again. Try running a high octane gas and don't worry if it is hard to make more than 10 psi if you not wide open throttle. Like others have said the computer will only utilize what it needs if the situation is right and in WOT it will most likely keep you from hitting about 6000 RPM's in first gear because of how short it is.
