rich + flames from tailpipe

All I have on my car right now is injen intake, CA header, xtc catless downpipe. My car has run rich since I brought it home day one. I just figured it was a little annoying, but nothing to worry about.

After I put on the downpipe I got a cel code. I'm assuming it is the normal one for catless, but checking it out in detail monday. I am considering if it is worth seeing the dealer for the rich issue though. I went out saturday night and while messing around with some friends the kid following me tells me I have some nice flames coming out the tailpipe on shifts.

I knew it was running rich, but apparently it is dumping a good bit through. It wasn't as clear without the cat gone. Do you think the dealer with complain about the catless when getting compression and tune checked out? I'm worried the rich issue might have long term wear issues, is it worth dealing with before making more upgrades and just getting a better custom tune in a few months? Right now it is stock tune.

I'm not sure what to do since my pipe is black and I'm getting perminent burn wear on it now. I'm not even sure the dealer can do anything assuming they won't blame the intake or cat for causing the issue.

Excess fuel is usually burned in the cat; no cat = unburned fuel with flames at the tip!! You probably do have a rich condition that needs to be checked out.

Im assuming you have an ss in wich case running ritch is normal keeps you from going BOOM! however if you get a tune it will lean up slightly but its somthing your going to have to live with its the nature of the beast.

Just make sure you carry a fire ext. with you for when your bumper catches fire.

Sucks. Being over RICH will rob you of power and spend (waste $$ gas). Something wrong in the tune.

bring it to a speed shop and have a professional tune done. Its a federal offense to remove the cat...who knows, maybe the dealer would turn you in..lol.

Just finished installing my a/f gauges. How do you like mkulrz13's custom pods?

Anyway, the air fuel seems steady at 14.5 there. For the most part it is all over the place though. Does the aem guage need adjusted on a new install? I'm thinking maybe it needs adjusted or set up initially. When I am shifting it is off the scale. I believe it is hitting 20+... the guage goes to --- instead of a read out. I hope that is an error.
