New AEM intake installed

AEM p/n: 21-531

It is actually made for an 05-06 Cobalt 2.2L, but I got a REALLY good deal on it. For now it is a short-ram (I cut it in half) It wouldn't fit right the way it came. I am going to get some silicone hose and re-connect the other half and make it a CAI when I get around to it. It is SOOO loud-it almost sounds like I have an aftermarket exhaust now.

yay, another AEM on a 2.4! I'm one of the few 2.4s rockin an AEM on the site............EVERYONE else basically has the Injen. I prefer the AEM b/c it has the dryflow filter and I live down a dirtroad, plus, im not a big fan of being like everyone else, lol. The AEM is def loud, but ever since I put my ARK N2 cat-back + CA header + CA/XTC 2.5" de-cat downpipe, I can't hear it at all really, lol. Now hurry up and make that thing cold air! Congrats on the purchase though!

Not so far-it has only been on for 15 miles. It idled a little rough when I 1st stared the engine, probably because I pulled the ECM fuse for a 1/2 hour.

Im feeling ya there. I love my AEM. Sounded so nice, people didnt believe I only had an intake. I had problems with oiled filters in the past, thats why I went with AEM. Anyways... I hope the AEM works out for you dmidkiff!

I had fitmant issues installing the intake as well. If the angle to where it connects to the throttle body was a few degrees more it would help out a lot. I never thought about cutting the pipe not a bad idea.

^You're kidding! So if it doesn't fit a Cobalt (which it is what it is designed for) W T F car DOES this darn thing fit? I found some silicone hose locally for $8/ft that will allow me to join the 2 pieces and have a true CAI.

How did you manage to fit the rubber 90` elbow flush with the TB while having the rubber bump connected (the one inside the fender)? I may have to drill out another hole or something. My elbow isn't quite flush to the TB and the MAF is too close to the hood liner. It's not rubbing just too close for comfort.

That was actually a pain to do. We had to lift my car and attach the rubber bump from the bottom end (hopefully Im talking about the same part that you are). But the elbow fit on nicely, we just had to use a lot of lubrication to get everything to slide on completely. And my MAF is close too, but we all figured since there was no touching it would be ok.

Mine doesn't have two pieces that connect to each other, its one piece. It was the same part number listed above. I cross checked the part numbers and they all match to the same cobalt intake. The part number on the pipe matched the instructions as well. So I don't know WTF!!!!!

Well its official-I just got a CEL. On the plus side, at full throttle, I now have tire chip at the 1-2 shift! I made a video of what it sounds like in and out of the car. I will post it on Google video asap.

Sounds good, yeah the 2.4's are loud stock especilly if you take out the resantor on the bottom of the intake. The reason you got a CEL is because the piping arounf the MAF is 3 inch. The Ion will throw a code becasue of the we need 2.75 MAF piping.

so you have the Injen on a 2.4, and it has CEL's every once and a while? So other Injen owners, READ THAT and stop lieing when you say "only the AEM does that, the Injen is sooooo perfect!" lol
