break/clutch fluid issue
break/clutch fluid issue
ok so in my never ending problem of being a stupid kid i messed up my cobalt. my 2 door ls's axle was replaced and put in today, i did drain most of the brake fluid but did not re-use it. well instead of bleeding the breaks completely i just added more dot 3 to the master cylinder. well when i got in i tried to use the breaks to force the fluid into the brake lines to get my brakes back, at the time i was unaware that my clutch linkage was hydraulicly powered from the break fluid as well. so when i tried to take off my clutch pedal went to the floor and i couldnt get it to engage and left the car in gear since i didnt have breaks i yanked the e-brake and the car kept going, i broke out of the gate of my driveway and across the street and into a tree stump at about 10mph, the cars fine i just want to know if i have to bleed my breaks and put new brake fluid in to fix this problem or whatever i have to do to fix this problem.
Um ...ah....well how can I put this
Do you have a video of this??
I'm just teasing you man. you are not stupid just inexperianced. You learn from your mistakes. I probably would have done even worst, like set my car on fire or something. See ...I dont even have an answer for ya.

you dont have to remove brake line to remove axle, the system shouldnt be opened therefore no air..you need to bled clutch and brakes it sounds like...also top off your trans fluid
on your next axle...remove strut bolts and tie rod to spindle nut, axle nut then pry gently to get shaft to slid out of case
