Heater Coil leaking after 18k miles?
Heater Coil leaking after 18k miles?
A month ago I noticed a "low tide" smell in my car. And thats a nice way to describe it. Upon starting my car i noticed a rushing water sound coming from under my dashboard and it got louder whenever I stepped on the gas. I noticed that the coolant was low also. Took it into the dealer a week ago and they listened to the sound and topped off my reservoir. Later that day after leaving my car parked for an hour or so there was a pool of coolant under my car. Popped the hood and saw some dex-cool dripping from the firewall. Took the Balt to the dealer today and found out that my heater coil was bad. It'll be fixed tomorrow. Anyone have any idea as to why this would go bad?
not too sure why the "heater Coil" would go bad, but I can tell you that the "new" Dex-cool is one of the worst things GM did. It causes the cooling system to fail early. It is bad for the radiator and the heater core but they will only warranty with the correct fluid. Good luck in the future.

Oh you said your heat worked fine after you did something. I was just under the impression that your heat didnt work at all. Dee-DeeDee. I blew a motor on a company truck after I drove it for a hundred miles or so with a blown/almost blown water pump. The heat shut off and I didnt think anything of it. Whoops.
