Cool Antenna removed but looks good...

The side of the driveway I was parking on has a Crepe Myrtle overhanging it. Everytime I pull up my antenna whips it showering all kinds of plant and flower material over the car. So I definetly removed the antenna pronto. I then noticed the threaded stud was rusting a little bit. So I ran up to the corner hardware store and bought a stainless steel acorn and screwed it on where the antenna use to be. I'm going to buy 2 o-rings and a stainless washer to sandwich/seal under the acorn nut to avoid any water getting in there and rusting it further. Heres what it looks like so far (acorn nut only).

1 o-ring isnt enough as the threaded stud is a wee bit too long.

Why don't you just buy a shorter antenna? A thread here said you can get one at Wal-Mart for about $10.

I've never been a fan of the short antennas, probably cause the ones i've seen around here aren't straight up, they are at some angle which ruins the idea I have for antennas. Plus it now looks like its retractable

Heres a pic of the side, let me know if you want a diff pic...

Well I for one think it looks nice but Im going for a short antenna made for the C5. Its a perfect fit and looks just like the stock antenna only shorter.

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...RRJJVQBDHC8EUE

They are only $19.99.

Ah, I see. Do you get the same reception without the antenna? And you're right, it does look retractable in the second pic.

Ya I'm addicted to XM and the FM stations around here have too much talk at the times when I listen.

That shorty @ ecklers looks great, I'll have to keep that in mind.

The reception is good but a little to much static for continuous listening - but I never really listen to FM anymore so my experiences were from a few very short times trying it out.

Hey Orgullo, just curious how you got coloured inserts in your seats if you only got an LS? Are they aftermarket or did you make em or am I just totally missing that its an option?

Ah, I forget that you can get XM. Well then, knowing all that my opinion completely turned around, heh. Great idea.

If you look at my pictures you can see they don't look exactly like the SS seats. They're custom leather seats. Only difference is that they're rounded off on the corners and it doesn't say SS on them. Also the stitching on the yellow part is different. I like'em.

Well I would agree that the silver cap looks kinda cheap, if it was black it would look really nice. Also IMO I think that the rubbery looking antenna thats in your post looks cheap. I just cant stand that rubbermaid look that it gives off.

I am sure its just a matter of screwing of the old one and screwing on the new one.

I want an antenna like the S2000, about 5" and angled back, looks like a remote control car antenna but certainly would look better then the 12' thing they put on at the plant

Stupid Honda not designing their antennas for Cobalts! Anyway, hopefully some manufacturer comes up with a true shorty for this car.
