Bike rack on a ss/sc

I know there has been a few inquires if there is a bike/ski rack for the ss/sc. Well I found out the answer is yes... but it ain't cheap. Luckily I had my Yakima rack from my Z24 I just needed to retro fit the clips that fit into the door sill.

4 clips - $80 - Q122
2 Bike carriers - $440 - raptor
1 Fairing - $85
2 locks for the bike carrier -$27

The q towers, locks and bars i already had or this would have been REALLY expensive!

does this mark up your roof at all? I'm looking for a bike rack for my SS too. I have no hardware right now...so it's going to be pricey

The bottom of the towers have urathan feet so as long as you keep them clean no issues there. The hardest part is having the clips that fit into the door aligined properly so they don't nick the inside of the door. Surprizingly enough I took it on the highway this morning to work and there was very minimal wind noise.

Well it doesn't look to bad imo, I'm glad that I finally found some pictures of the yakima rack on a cobalt. I ordered mine and It should be in tomorrow and I was kinda nervous on the fit and what not because I couldn't find any pictures. Anyways I'm excited about it, who cares that it makes the car look funny, it comes off when your not using it and you can fit not only bikes on it but snowboards too which is key for me.

I have this same rack. I love it. I even ran it into a garage, totalled it + $2000 in damage to the car. Bt I still got another rack. Great rack. I went on a 1500mi road trip with the bike on the roof 75+mph no problem, and very little noise.

Yakima is the only company that makes a roof rack base system for the 2 dr cobalt. The Thule trays will fit on the Yakima base system as well. As for a trunk mount, the Saris Bones trunk mount rack is probably the most universal trunk mount rack there is, I'm sure it would fit. They come in 2 and 3 bike versions, bout $130 and $150 respectively.

I put my bike in the trunk. Take the wheels off and it fits fine.

Fitting two would be hard, but one was really no problem at all.

I just got mine on today

It fits pretty good actually I think, and true you could fit one bike in the trunk but with a mountain bike sometimes its difficult, also having a 12" sub in my trunk makes it that much harder.

The good part about putting the rack on the roof instead of the trunk is you still have access to your trunk.
