06 VS 07 ss/sc cars

i was playin with a friend of mines 06 car yesterday. 2.85, 42's, gmpp manifold, k&n intake.

runnin 22 degree's of timing, very conservative to say the least. still under 100% duty cycle with room to spare.

now take my car. stage 2 pulley, 42's k&n header, catback, blah blah.

completely different ve tables, the pe table on the 06 was just ******* nuts!
i can't get over 22 degrees of timing without knock. from day one has run over 100% cuty cycle.

seriously, did gm just say **** it on the 07's?!?!

Hmm, I don't know but my 05 will only take 15 degrees of timing, even with my 2.8" pulley. With meth I can run 23.5 degrees on the 2.6", I'm at 2200 feet above sea level and it usually doesn't get very hot here, around 65-75*f average.

looked at my log last night, 24.0 degrees on stage 2 pulley.

what gets me is, his idc is below 100, mine on a bigger pulley SAME commanded a/f is still above 100. this confuses me!

guess i can look at the base maps

2007 idc VS 2005-06 idc is different, it is read different. 2006 isn't a can-bus system, but the 07 is.

this explains a lot.

You said it all righ there. LOW 11.XX AFR (big key!) and 94 octane (you lucky SOAB!)

Here 21.5 degree ...0.5 knock wich is nothing. This is all before my coolingmist.

Yeah, the 94 octane has A LOT to do with that. In AZ I had to run 15.5 degrees of timing on 91 octane in order to get no knock (thats on a 140 mph run, I could run 18 degrees on a short burst). Gas has a lot to do with it.

Not really.
ALL Cobalts are CAN bus cars (techncially called GMLAN) but the LSJ PCM also communicates and is programmed via Class 2 (J1850 VPW) and IDC is NOT even a transmitted PID on the network, it is merely an HPT calculated value based on injector base pulse width and engine speed (RPM)

CAN-Di is merely the interface device added to the TECH2 cable to allow it to communicate with the GM-LAN modules. It is not a communications protocol.

Not a lot (other than the software and calibration specifics)
They are ALL P12 PCMs
