After 3 weeks & some 1800 miles my Cobalt and I have come to know what to expect from each other. This mild mannered compact rocket is a solid commuter at about 32mpg at average highway speeds of 70-80mph. What is truly surprising is that when you need a little burst of excitement or feel the need to circumnavigate the occasional left lane obstacle, a quick crack to 3rd and back to 4th makes you want to kiss your sales man for suggesting you test drive the S/C. As for the responsive handling, considering the base model is the offspring of the Caviler it is a blast to drive even with some mild under steer. Style is 1st rate in the sport compact class. Only 1 bad thing, GM why no S/C in 2008?
Favorite Features:
32mpg hwy!
205 hp!
200 lb-ft torque!
<$25,000!
General Motors Performance Parts support for after market upgrades that don't void the factory warranty!
The big smile you get while driving it…
Suggested Improvements:
Keep building the damn thing! What is with GM, they are killing the Cobalt SS and SS S/C after only 3 years but the Pontiac Vibe lives on since introduced in '02? Has anyone ever bought a Colorado or Sierra because they liked their styling, how can you screw up considering how hot the Tahoe is?

i think i did one a while back... ohh well i'll do it again....
the only thing that really bothers me about my 2.4 ss are the seats. to me my old cavalier seats are more more comfortable than these 'bucket less' seats. i just cant get comfortable in em. my body always slides around in them too...
also a telescoping steering wheel would be nice... i had a hard time getting used to that.
my favorites are design, steering wheel controles, 17 inch rims, and xm standard!

Why, you don't like the Cobalt either. Funny how they rate the '05 as 7.2, but the '06 gets a 6.9, yet they are virtually identical. And at the top of the review, it has cheap interior plastics, but later in the review they say that the Cobalt's interior is consistent with the offerings of its competitors, and feels more upscale than the car actually is. Well, which is it Edmunds? Edmunds is only slightly better than Consumer Reports in my book, but they are both biased domestic auto haters.
Done I gave it a fair review. Im not dropping any more than a 7 on performance the stock tune is uncalled for bad on the 2.4 ss. My Power sunroof switch came half way dislodged the 3rd time i used it. My car got broken into w/a scredriver and the factory alarm didn't go off. I got 18 mpg (same as an 1988 eldorado) untill i took off a peice of crap factory air snorkle now i get 20 mpg (6 less mpg than my brothers 07 grand prix w/ a 3800 v6) The AC is there its just dissapointingly crappy(20 mins of driving in 93 degree weather and back seat is still swealtering front seat is gettin less uncomfortably hot)
Too put it lightly i have under 3k miles on the car and the word ide use most to discribe it is "DISPLEASING"
But that being said I love compact cars and hope to one day mod the DIS outa the above statement.
