Street Legal Turbo 2.2

Is it possible? I'm slowly but surely starting to lose faith in all street legal forced induction options for this car, and since I can't afford an SS/SC, I wanted to look at a turbo or a supercharger kit that I can throw on the car without failing emissions (I'm from MA, so they're not lenient.)

I think the only way that would even go through is if you had a setup that was actually 50 state emmissions approved (well some states don't have emissions testing...) and that will mean it's CARB legal as well. Technically, modified vehicles shouldn't pass inspection (visual inspection).

If you're that worried, don't touch your car.

Unless we get a flash tuning ability at some point for the ECM's, it will never be.

you could get an ss/sc for less than that used.... with low miles

the SS/SC is more of an investment over time though due to higher payments and insurance. plus you can't choose when to put that extra money into the car and you know you wont keep it stock so mod money + payments + insurance = way larger investment

if only it was that simple though...that would be nice

Fixed it for you lol, j/k j/k.
Seriously thought, insurence is a killer...major killer when it comes to an ss/sc so...yeah, Its cheaper in the long run to go 2.2 and turbo it vs 2.0. Not to mention, i don't know about you but i would rather say "yeah...i put that turbo on MYSELF, it was work but it was worth it (mean time gaining knowlegde) over saying "yeah, i just picked up my stock supercharged car from the dealership" Don't get me wrong, they are nice cars and i am in no way intentionally or other wise raggin on them but Yeah...for me there would be no pride in that. I like modding (performance wise, don't usually mess with exterior) so i would MUCH rather start with a bigger baseline engine and do the work myself. See what I'm sayin?

he said nothing derogatory to the owner. or about the car.
he was just stating an opinion, that he might be able to get a used one cheaper than what the guy intends to invest.

i think youd be surprised at how many of these 2.0 vs the world threads get started by people getting butthurt because of slight case of buyers remorse.

lets just leave it alone shall we?

Honestly I'd love to get an SS/SC, but they're extremely rare around my area, especially used. No one in the city I live has one, and I'm one of four 'balt coupes.

also you have to look at the fact the base model ls is about 200lbs lighter than the ss/sc with no options. so making the same power with equal drivers the turbo ls should win.
