Fuel Of Choice!!!

What does everyone run in there cobalts? 87, 98, 93 or higher? Just curious. I have been running 87 since new but recently changed to 89 with seeing a performance increase, and smoother operation of the motor. Just curious.

i run 87. if you have the 2.2 there's not any reason to go higher than 87. it's just a waste of money.

2.4 and 2.0 should run premium. modded 2.0 depending on mods should run higher than 91.

but, you should always use the correct octane. using more than the required octane will not give you any power, and will not make your engine run any better. also, it's a big mis-conception that higher octane will clean the engine.

I agree that the cleaner engine myth is BS, this myth is definetly BUSTED... I run 89 cause I feel as though our gasoline from Hess is watered down or something, cause alot of people in my area complain about performance and economy from 87. so maybe our 89 is really 87 who knows with all these factories changing there mixes and whatnot.

exactly.
but with 1 addition...
higher octane will not give you any power....
but lower octane than your engine needs, CAN take it away....

2.2 --87 is fine.
2.4 --you can get away with 89, but you will likely have knock (this is bad) and should run 91 or better
2.0 --should run 91. anything less will knock. try to find 93/94 if you can, especially if your modded. 91 octane will knock with stage 2.

exactly... you will only gain power from a higher octane if you were originally using lower than what you should. 99% of the time using higher octane and thinking you get more power is just in your head.
