Frozen Brake Caliper?

Did anybody experience a squeel from their rear Drivers side brake?
My car sat for a few weeks and When I drove it for the first time I heard a queel from the rear driver side for like a secaond and my RIM was extremely HOT when I stopped. All the other wheel were at normal operating temp. I am not sure if the brake was frozen since the car didn't pull when I stopped. I drove it this morning and it is fine. But I am not sure If I should bring it in to the dealership to take a look at it.

Any Ideas?

Oh Yeah I have an 06 SS/SC.

The squeel is normal. It happens cause rust and moisture buildup in the rotor / and or drum. Nothing to worry about.

If he were only getting a squeal, I'd agree, but it is NOT normal for that wheel to then be hotter after stopping. Plus this problem has come up on other Cobalts as well. Mine has 3 calipers that do this. Well, one of the rears sticks and both fronts drag.

OP, have you tried parking the car on a FLAT surface in gear without setting the e-brake? Mine seems to only occur after setting the e-brake, like it just doesn't disengage. If it's still under warranty, take it in and have it looked at. Caliper malfunction is NOT a maintenance item and it's NOT normal for calipers to stick. If you're out of warranty, either take it to a mechanic or if you're handy with cars and know what you're looking for, you can inspect it yourself to determine the problem and possibly rebuild the caliper.

That's what I'm thinking as well. The e-brake was the root of my problems with the rear one. Once I changed out the pads and adjusted my e-brake cable it went away. The problem seemed to get worse as the brake pads wore, but there was a VERY obvious problem since my rear pads were worse than my fronts.

If you have calipers in the back, I think you obviously have an SS, lube up the slide pin on the calipers.. That usually helps.. Use a good hi temp molly lube.

Yeah, I think that's what did it on my backs, either that or a combination of that and re-adjusting the e-brake. Before I did that it was to the point of the brakes sounding like a whale in heat any time I backed out of my driveway.

I am going to bring it to the dealership next week.
It freed up and then I got stuck again.
This time the wheel couldn't even be touched it was so HOT.

haha yea my rear does that when it sits at night and is cold and dewy, after about 5 seconds it goes away though. My front ROTORS are my other problem though. It is like the pads are a harder substance, and so the rotor is wearing away, and not the pad...

Yeah, the rotors could stand some improvement. My rotors were warped and had to be cut with 6,000 miles on my 06' SS/SC yet the pads were only slightly worn.
