91 Octane?
91 Octane?
Am going to pick up a supercharged cobalt - is it true it runs on 91???? That sucks if so! Any input on this? Thanks, Carter
New to the SS - looks like a fun little car - so I am getting one. Will be driving it across contry right away - any pointers on making this drive right away with a new car?

87 around here costs 2.83 right now, and 93 costs 3.03, thats 20 cents a gallon more for premium fuel over the cheap stuff. its always 20 cents difference, no matter what the price of gas is.
12 gallon tank X 20 cents a gallon = $2.40
If you cant afford that extra two bucks every time you fill your tank then you cant afford a SS/SC.

Agreed, be lucky that is all you are paying. I can get no higer than 91 octane at the pump out here do to the altitude, and I still pay around $3.30 a gallon on a good day. I could blend in some 100 octane unleaded race fuel, but that is $5.00 a gallon.
^^^ Wait.............. 3 or 4 cents difference between regular and premium?? If so, I hate you and your state haha only kidding. I figure I will have to buy gas no matter what the price is, so I dont even pay attention to how much it is any more!
And to answer the OP's question, yes you need to run premium gas in your SS/SC!

+rep for you.
if you cant afford to give your car what it requires....they buy a cheaper car.
I just don't bother looking at the price of gas any more either. It just pisses me off so why bother. I remember when we were all bitching about the gas prices when it went over $1.50, now I pray for gas that cheap.
331 for premium here in western washington. but im going with the other guys and gonna say it doesnt matter if gas went up to 5 bucks or more a gallon because peopel would still buy it. We all have to have transportation to work and most americans are too lazy to ride a bike, so we buy gas no matter the price!!!!!!!!!!!
On the trip-across-country part, if you plan on taking an interstate the whole way, try to vary your speed. When braking in an engine, its good to NOT go the same speed for long distances (ie cruise control) - it can mess with the way the computer programs itself etc.
THANKS!
always look on the bright side!! "I'd go an extra 7.07% for some blower whine"
