p0300 cause?

I have brought my car a few months ago to the dealer for the p0300 code because I saw it on my interceptor but I never felt a misfire and they couldnt find a problem. CAn u get the misfire code by hitting the revlimiter? Could hitting it often set it off? Just wondering because if not I will keep bring it back because I am sure I hit it in first every so often besause it is so short I never notice a performanse or mpg problem when the code is set

No, you cant get a code from hitting the rev limiter. The code is a random misfire code. I would use a good grade fuel 92+ NEVER 87 oct. Being in the heat may have caused pre detonation and threw the code. Also, if there have been fuel mods done, you need to make sure the plugs are 1 step colder. lastly a random 300 code can be set by a crank sensor about to fail. Hope this helps.

Heres some things that cause it

Inspect the following components:

• The vacuum hoses and seals for splits, restrictions, and improper connections--Refer to Emission Hose Routing Diagram .

• The crankcase ventilation system for vacuum leaks--Refer to Crankcase Ventilation System Inspection/Diagnosis .

• The powertrain control module (PCM) grounds for corrosion and loose connections--Refer to Ground Distribution Schematics .

• The exhaust system for restrictions--Refer to Restricted Exhaust .

• The fuel for contamination-

Mis-gapped plugs or very shitty set of plugs will cause it as well.

I was suprised to find NGK's in my stock SS. Never replaced them till I did my pulley swap. They were in there since new.

All I have is intake/header/dp with cat. I only use 93 and I get the same gas from the same station everytime. HAve stock plugs in and I will not change them because if they are bad it would be under warranty. 5 months ago the dealer tech told me that my okugs loked like the car was running rich and he has seen a few ss/sc running rich. Maybe I'll swing by the dealer and report the problem again
