? GM stg 3 Pulley vs 2.95 inch pulley

i cannot make up my mind about which pulley to get. I figure the stg 3 pulley from GM is obviously safe to run with some cooling mods and stage 2 but i was wondering if a 2.95 inch pulley would be the better buy for the $. I also max out at 16 psi with the stg two pulley... Opinions?

2.9 is the lowest you would want to go to be safe on the stage 2 tune..2.95 would be better since the stage 3 is larger..u can order from nate and its well worth it.

I'm thinking of going with one of Nate's pulleys when I get back. Ether 2.9" or 2.95". Will figure it out later.

I would have to agree!! I have this setup and it runs great. Pulls hard up top. Your gonna want to get one step colder plugs with the smaller pulley. I have the zex plugs. Some people are running the ngk bkr7e's though.

I got the GM stage 3 pulley, I didn't realize he made pulleys as cheap as he does. I paid 75 for the stage 3 and could have gotten a polished and lighter weight 2.9" for 50. Oh well. Shoulda coulda woulda...

Well i guess the concensus is go for a 2.9 with nate because the gm isnt worth it but all i have to do first is get the dual pass endplate and a wideband because i want to make sure im not running lean with that small of a pulley on. thanks for the info guys!

i have a 2.9 and one step colder plugs. Its safe to run on a stage 2 tune, BUT its about a million times better with a custom HP tune like i have. If you go 2.9, i recomend getting it tuned in a hurry.

Well the Stage 3 pulley isn't 2.9". It is actually 2.99", might as well call it 3" flat.

Im really looking to stay away from custom tunes but What can hp tuners do for me to make it that much better.

Trying to find someone that can do a HP tune is hard. There are 2 places around here that do all the modded Vettes and have done my Z06 but they wont touch a Cobalt...Go figure.

trust me it WILL make it that much better. When i just had stage 2, i ran that for a while then had a custom map made for my stage 2. You know the feeling from stock to stage two? well its like that from stage 2 ---> stage 2 custom tune. Its worth it, its a night and day differnece..... pulls hard, boost comes sooner, its awesome.

you can always just buy the hp tuners software... yea it $500 bucks, but hell you'll make that back in a couple months doing other peoples cars, then you'll be MAKING MONEY off of it!

stage 2.79

i have stage 2 and a 2.79 pulley i have been running this setup for over a year and a half and have been dynoed and run a nice 10.5 a/f ratio.

i put down 247 hp and 232 trq

SS33 runs and almost identical setup for longer than i have been running mine.

both of us have had zero problems what so ever.

he has never been dynoed but watches his a/f constantly and has even hot lapped his car at the track and had zero problems.
