View Full Version : Pedal cover problems. Anyone having any?
CrateEngineDepot 10-09-2005, 11:40 PM Hi, I have a customer with a complaint that the pedal covers they bought are causing problems with the brake light coming and the cruise deactivation due to the extra weight of the covers. Has anyone had this problem and if so were you able to correct the situation?
Chevypowered 10-09-2005, 11:43 PM sounds sketchy to me they can't weigh that much more, which kind are they?
CrateEngineDepot 10-09-2005, 11:44 PM they are the GM accessory pedals.
Chevypowered 10-09-2005, 11:51 PM something you might be able to to is weight them and compare them to the stock ones. It doesn't seem like a true story. It caould also be their pedal sensors or srpings that aren't doing their job properly. Just my thoughts on it.
Malaclypse 10-10-2005, 12:01 AM Make sure the customer isn't riding the clutch as well if its a manual. These cars have a clutch anticipation switch that kicks off the cruise IIRC.
I seriously doubt pedal covers are causing this.
philco_3 10-10-2005, 12:05 AM i have no problem with them, installed them myself. there is little to no weight differnce in between the stock pads and the gm accessory ones.
Clmbngfrk18 10-10-2005, 01:01 AM no that won't cause the brake light to come on that's for the e-brake its a cobalt thing from what ive relized alot of people are havig that problem it happened to me a couple times it just blink on for a sec and goes off heard a little about chevy might be correcting it
SilverSS/SC 10-10-2005, 07:44 AM Ive got the GM aluminum pedals , and 0 problems for me . Like was said before , theres virtually no weight diff at all .
Halfcent 10-10-2005, 09:52 AM Tell him to quit dragging his foot against the brake pedal while driving.
CrateEngineDepot 10-10-2005, 10:47 AM Thanks everyone, I will be contacting TAC today and douple check what problems they are having as well if they have a fix for it.
RaineMan 10-12-2005, 11:49 AM I put the pedal covers on myself.... no problems here. :-D
Woodio 10-12-2005, 11:46 PM You can hear the sensor in the clutch pedal kick in about 75% of the way down. I would only really see the brake pedal cover causing the problem.
italstalnprd86 10-13-2005, 12:19 AM I had one problem when i put the brake one on, the lever that controls the breaks came un alined, and my breaks where sticking...... took it down to the shop and they re adjusted it and no problems ever since........
player_1 10-13-2005, 02:17 PM I've had no problems with my pedals.

The pedal covers are not at fault. The Red brake light coming on is a programing fault in the IPC( instument panel console). The cruise deactination may be caused by the brake switch being out of adjustment. I have had a few compiants on Cobalts and HHRs for this.
brianfcp 10-14-2005, 01:19 PM i always wanted the pedals, but it looks like too much work to install em.
seems some people have the problem, and some dont.
