Wheel Locks

I just put new rims and tires on my LS and I was wondering where I could get a set of wheel locks. Its getting an alignment at Kauffman and they only offer a full set of "tuner" lugs with locking lugs. The alignment is also going to be $90 WTF?

IMO don't bother with the wheel locks. My Mach 1 came with them and I took them off when I put on aftermarket wheels hehe.

The reason I say don't bother, is because there are kits to get stripped (or not stripped as the case may be) wheel locks off, we have 1 at work, only need a hammer and you can quickly take off the locks. Also if you buy the standard Autozone or Pep Boys etc. wheel locks, any decent thief will have a set of standard locks if they want them (it might be easier to just use the kit I mentioned above for all I know). The other thing to consider is if you make it harder for someone to steal your wheels they will do 1 of 2 things. Either they will just walk away, or steal the whole car.

Like I said, this is my *personal* opinion on wheel locks, if they give you peace of mind then buy them, but I wouldn't worry too much if you decide not to get them.

very true... if someone wants to steal something... they will!!! the locks just make it a little more difficult, hopefully they (the thief) will just look for a car w/o locks as the easier target!

If thiefs want my stuff so bad they can just have it. I would rather them take what they want than vandalize the car because it was more work for them. That is what insurance is for.

Why the alignment ?
Was the car pulling to one side,
Did you have uneven tire wear.
If not I think its a waste of 90 dollars the cars to new to already have alignment problem and if it needs it should of been warranty work unless you hit something.

Everyone here is right. Wheels locks offer only a deterent because it will take a thief longer to steal the wheels, but not actually stop them. My brother got a flat on his car and my dad had put wheels locks on for him. Well the wheel lock on the flat tire had broken off and the key would not stay on. So to make a long story short, all you have to do it hammer on a socket big enough to fit tightly over the outter edge of the key and you're goo to go. Damn por waste of my nice new 19 MM deep socket though.

Yeah If they want them.. they will get them.. I had a 98 Chevy Blazer with 20" Alba Blaze's on them. Back in like 2000 i went to a concert in Atlanta... Came back.. My whole ride was gone... truck was found a couple of blocks away stripped and dropped in the dirt.. so the wheels locks i had didnt stop anything. THOSE BASTARDS!!!!!!!

It still is a deterent... and as was said before... pretty much any parts store will have them
