hey guys ive had my cobalt now for a while, changed the oil about 2000km ago, anyways my ol life montior was down to 65% just before i left this weekend for camping (didnt drive my car) anyways i get back today and my oil life reads 100%?! and i know noone changed my oil, so question is: what could have caused this? or is it just a glitch in the monitor?

 

someone must have changed it on you, was anyone playing with the information centre in your car? its fairly easy to reset.

 

You must've reset it by holding down one (or both, cant remember) of the buttons that control the DIC for a couple seconds.

 

did your battery die at all? i think this resets it.

 

the battery going out will not reset the meter...

 

You must of had the car ignition on ACC and hit the pedal 3 times by accident.

 

yah ^^ tappin the accelerator 3 times will do it.

just ignore that thing anyway.
its the dummy light. for people to retarded to remember to change their oil every X miles.

 

ahha i know it wasnt changed! i had my keys with me, batteries fine, car only has 16xxx km on it, i still change oil every 5k or so, just curious

 

you may have held info button too long.or you may have a sensor malfunction.

 

I had the same thing happen to me - so that's the secret way to reset it!

 

see thats the thing tho, i dont think that button resets it unless there was in fact an oil change

 

Sure it does. Ive reset mine plenty of times this way and in fact it reset when I disconnected all the connections to remove and paint my interior trim

 

Damn, I have always wondered why it "reset on it's own" all of the time. I tried that today and it did it... hmm
