Arent Intakes suppoused to help?

Okay, So yesterday I did the airbox mod with just a generic oiled filter. I disconnected the battery, let the car idle and then test drove it.

First gear was good, but second gear seems to lag quite a bit more. It seems like it takes longer for it to get to higher RPM's. I love the sound and do NOT want to take it off. But i miss my speed.

my cobalt is my life and i just want it to be fast!

Help me!

Seems like your car is bogging, and hesitating, the oil could have gunked up your maf.

It is the air filter. Not everyone will have this problem, but some come oiled more than others. That oil gets the maf dirty and then you have wrong airflow readings. Your car may even throw Rich Codes. P0171

P0171 is a lean code... but yeah. I gotta ditch my oiled filter and snag a AEM dryflow soon.

Quite possibly true my friend. This is my 2nd Spectre filter... ran the 1st one for 10,000 miles without a single problem. Ran this one for 1000 miles before the code finally kicked. Just kinda wierd.

I am actually suprised that with at least one thread a day of someone with this same problem, people are still going out and buying oiled filters instead of the AEM dryflow. I'm not saying that you are guaranteed a problem with the oil filter, and for those of you that have them without any problems that's cool. But, if someone is planning on doing this in the future you may as well avoid a "potential problem" and just buy the dryflow.
