PLEASE HELP ASAP!! What is This Part Called and What does it Do?

The title says it all. To make a long story short, I was installing the manifold and when I did I snapped the end of this piece off where a hose connects to it. I was wondering what it is and what it does? I was also wondering if it would hurt it to drive with it like this without the hose connected to it? The dealership isn't open today and none of the autoparts stores know what the part is to look it up so I can purchase it. Thanks in advance!!

What does the boost bypass valve do? I have been forced to drive on it do to going to work and it seems to be running okay. No CELS's yet. When I give it a little gas you can hear a bit of a suction noise.

The boost bypass valve cuts off 2lbs of boost at I think 6000rpms. I might be mistaken on the numbers but its just a safety measure so you dont blow up. Just dont push her hard and you should be ok

Um, the bypass valve sits on the blower.. That, looks like some sort of Map sensor.

After further reseach, the bypass vavle DOES sit on the blower. What the OP is talking about IS NOT the bypass vavle.

Where are you getting this info from? Becuase if you look at the how to and Ive actually seen someone do it on their redline the boost bypass valve is not on the blower. Not trying to be a dick I just wanna see where your getting this from.

When I had my blower off the other day, on the manifold there is an extension where the underside of the bypass vavle connects to. My guess, when enough throttle is given the vavle closes. Or when the ECU limits boost.

Damn, I found it. I went to gmpartsdirect and typed in the top number and look what came up. It's a fuel tank evaporator control.

I would still like to know if this would hurt my car to drive with it like this. +1 rep for everyone that's been helping me.

More commonly referred to as an EVAP purge solenoid.

I'm going to try to call the autoparts store first. Don't want to wait for it to be shipped. I have to drive it everyday. Will this hurt to drive it with it like this?

You'll probably throw an emissions control code, maybe EVAP system too.

Ok I see what your saying. I guess I was just refering to the area where you do the mod itself. I guess what I was talking about is where the hose runs from the valve.
