Good deal. So throwing a turbo kit on a 2.2 is significantly better than trying to mod an SS/SC. hahaha That's awsome.

Good luck with it. I hope it makes the power you're expecting, I'll laugh at those SS/SC guys with you for days.

Didn't you just make this thread about getting the LSJ manifold?

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything but do you understand what you are getting into? Do you understand how forced induction works? Do you understand the basics of a fuel system? Do you understand how the oiling system plays a effect in all this? Do you understand the basics of fuel management and fuel injection?

I'm asking this cause I have done what you're doing now and it's not something you just jump into even if you buy a kit.

He's buying a kit and having someone else install it. He doesn't even have to know what a spark plug does. He just pays them and drives away in his turbo car.

and when the "pro" shop ***** up on something that you don't catch cause you didn't know any better, you'll be wishing you knew better.

Yeah you're right, you take your car to someone and they do everything but people aren't perfect and a vehicle is a very expensive item to invest in...if you wanted to get in the stock market, are you going to just give your money to a stock broker and just hope you get good results from it? No. You should understand what you're doing.

I'm not this big fabricator or mechanic myself but for damn sure I know how everything works. If I'm driving down the street and something is occuring, I know to pull over and check to see what is happening.

Too many people do things blindly and it costs them money. I'd imagine that he's not made of money because he does own a Base Model cobalt and not a EVO or STi or any other higher end vehicle.

I totally agree. I never said I personally would take anything (car related or not) to anyone else to have work done that I didn't understand myself, but LOTS of people do it and the cars are running around all over the place. Bought, not built. It happens.

Hopefully it works out for him. At least give him the benefit of a doubt that he does know something. First hand experience will be the best way to learn anyway. May not be easy or fun the first time through, but he'll learn as he goes.

I know what you mean

I wasn't trying to rule him out of not knowing anything but just not knowing as much as he should. I've read some of his threads just recently and the type of questions he was asking would just lead me to think he doesn't...sorry if I'm wrong but if he can answer the questions I asked legitly (I think that's a word lol), then I would have more confidence in that he won't be back here weeks later from the install asking for help.

Please read NJHK's turbo FAQ. Best thing to get you started on your turbo escapade. You should really know what your getting yourself into, trust me. I was in your position too. Now im to the point where im pulling my own engine and rebuilding it, then installing a procharger. You will be a lot happier with your car if you took the time to understand how it works. Plus you cant always rely on others to do the work for you. They dont know exactly how your car works or whats in it. Only you will, so you might as well be the one who can work on it. Or at least have a good idea.

Case and Point.

Thank you sway.

Sway is another person who has been in the same position as me converting a n/a vehicle to forced induction...it's not as simple as you think even if you aren't doing the install yourself.
