Procharger Build

SOOOOOO, Im in the early stages of my Procharger build for my 2.4. First thing I have to do is set up a list of all the parts I need and their prices. Im kinda knew to forced induction so I was hoping you all could help me with some recommendations of things that I will need. So far my list is short......
1. Procharger kit
2. HPTuners
lol, thats it. Also, does anybody know if I need an intercooler? Thanks for the help and Ill keep you all updated, you just have to be patient cause as a college student, it takes me time to save up money. This is probably going to be a year long build.

Well what you could do is look at what the other procharger kits to use as a reference.

Umm....fuel injectors....possibly a custom made pulley on the procharger (I belive the procharger pullies are thick as hell....probably liike 5 times thicker than our surpentime belt), custom made mouting bracket.....idk...when I look in the engine bay, it really doesnt seem like there will be room....but good luck with it (i thougth about doing this as well on my 2.0 but seems liek theres no room....only way would to be to cut the radiator suppourt but I don't want to touch that....however I hope you can figure out something)

What about gauges, which ones are necessary? And is a new clutch necessary?

Apparently with the new beta version of HPTuners, its possible to tune a 2.4 for boost. (The guys in PA did it for a turbo).

Prochargers are an easy way to add forced induction, and all thatd really be involved is:

Injectors
Procharger (C1 or C2)
Custom Mounting Bracket
Bigger Belt
Belt Tensioner
Charge Piping
a Intercooler is optional.

Think of a procharger, as a intake...thats connected to the belt.....and it pushes air in.

other than tuning the car, the only hard part is figuring a way to mount it. If you sit down, and have a decent amount of fabrication know how, you can probably do it in 2-4 hours.

You weld on a bracket, put on a new belt, attach the procharger..secure it. Change your fuel injectors, connect the procharger to the belt, and slap on the air filter, and run the charge piping.

a new clutch wouldnt hurt.

but gauges id recommend for anything boosted is:

Boost Gauge (Not only to read boost, but to ensure your not "overboosting")
A/F Gauge (To make sure your not going to make your car go boom)

I could definitely do that! I was trying to look up the progress you had made but couldnt find it. How is the build going? I really hope it goes well cause I want to procharge so badly. Its been my plan since I got the car.

And thanks for the input TCarter, appreciate the help. Are those the only two gauges you think I would need?

Its always been possible since the release of HPTuners that supported the 2.4s. The beta just made it easier to spark tune.

djt81185 and I tuned a 2.4 for boost using the same method the Kappa guys do.

Well damn, we are in a similar situation, except you know a bit more than I do lol. Im planning on being done by the end of my school year, so like the middle of may 2008. I have enough money now, but it would take all my money and since Im assuming there will be some problems I would like to have money to fix em. As long as books and groceries dont cost too much I should be able to buy the kit in about 4-5 months, then install begins second semester. I dont mind being second on the forum lol, I just want to do this. Besides, second lets me learn from the firsts mistakes haha

Actually you would be the first cobalt 2.4l.
The mounting brackets are different between the cobalt and the saturn.
And I have a very good friend that could help you in MD. He is apart of are crew.
