My dealership blows...

I started calling around a little while ago to ask the dealerships in my area about stage 2 installed (asked them if they had done any and for price quotes). I started with my home dealership, where I bought my car, and then called a few others. My dealership seemed surprised/confused and said they would have to get back to me after doing some research. Another dealership said they had someone who "specialized" in stage 2 installs and quoted my $1100 for everything (a little pricey, I know). Well, I decided to order the parts myself from CED and go with the guys who know what they're doing. I clal them up, ask for a labor-only quote, they tell me $300, and I ask if this should affect my warranty (already knowing that the answer should be no) and they say no, not at all. Great, I set up the appointment.
So now I figure I'm all set until I get the call back from the dealership where I bought my car. First of all, they quote me $1500 for the job . THEN, they tell me that I should keep in mind that I'm "modifying the car so I should keep that in mind since I'm still well within my warranty". WTF!? These are the guys I bought my car from so I have my warranty through them. Now I'm going to have to worry about them telling me my warranty is void?! I'm pissed...
So here's where I need some answers. Can I just go to the other, better dealership for any warranty and service from now on or do I have to go to the guys who sold me my car? Also, is there anywhere I can get some official GM paperwork the garuntees my warranty after a stage 2 install by GM techs?
I'm buying only GMPP parts and having GM techs install them instead of doing the work myself because I was under the impression it would leave absolutely no question about my warranty. Am I wrong? Any insight you guys could offer would be very much appreciated...

(Oh, by the way, I know $300 is still too much for the install but this kind of request is pretty uncommon in MA so the prices seem to be higher everywhere )

well, GM backs stage 2 and it is covered under warranty. i suggest you call GM, not your dealer, and sort of tattle tale on them. it works great.. they'll probably do the install for the recommended $160 (2 hours of labor.. usually $80 per hour)

GM is warranting you car not the dealer you purchased the car from... If they try to void your warranty and you can prove a GM dealer installed the GM parts they gain nothing but a former customer...

yeh my dealership quoted me $450 for Stage 2. Had a guy I know back in Rapid(owns a yellow SS/SC) call up another Chevy dealer in Sturgis and they said $300. Wonder what the Chevy dealer in Spearfish will say? None of these dealerships have done a Stage 2 install. There's only 5-6 SS/SC's in the whole Black Hills area...unless Rapid Chevy finally sold some of the 5 07's they had sitting on the lot when I left.

I'm buying Stage 2 from CED also.

If worse comes to worse I'll actually wait until I get back to PA and have the Chevy dealer on Carlisle Pike do the install if it'll save me some money. That or Sutliff in Harrisburg. I'm sure one of them has to have done a Stage 2 install.
