View Full Version : gm performance exhaust!! Altiery54 07-22-2007, 12:18 PM finally ordered my gm performance exhaust it will be here by next friday i am pretty damn excited. what do you all who have the performance exhaust think? hows it sound Onyxd04Redline 07-22-2007, 12:24 PM It's overpriced and there are better options. BMWM51969 07-22-2007, 12:25 PM I have a GMPP sport exhaust for the 2.2l. and it sounds pretty cool... not ricer-like which is nice. Altiery54 07-22-2007, 12:28 PM It's overpriced and there are better options. like what? nich7601 07-22-2007, 12:30 PM I love mine. Sounds nice, good and loud, definetly gets some looks. YSUsteven 07-22-2007, 12:31 PM It's overpriced and there are better options. I want to know what options are cheaper and better, enlighten me. Qwikness 07-22-2007, 12:31 PM It's overpriced and there are better options. This site cracks me up lol. RedEcotecSS 07-22-2007, 12:32 PM I love mine. Any custom shop can do a custom mandrel bent system for 250.... Which i had done. :) InfinityzeN 07-22-2007, 12:50 PM Megan Racing exhaust. Full 2.5+" exhaust for ~$380 MSRP. NGA has/had a group buy going for $315. sscobaltscZ06 07-22-2007, 02:48 PM Soon as we had ours put on less than a week later its for sale. Better off having a muffler shop do a custom exhaust, cheaper and sound better. anthonyS88 07-22-2007, 05:06 PM isnt it good though that it dosent void the factory warranty? i know that since my car only has 260miles and im ready to mod it i dont want to void the warranty Altiery54 07-22-2007, 05:07 PM isnt it good though that it dosent void the factory warranty? i know that since my car only has 260miles and im ready to mod it i dont want to void the warranty couldnt have said it better myself devon9832 07-22-2007, 05:18 PM well i purchased mine friday and had it installed saturday morning. Would recommend it.i second this motion.LOL Moza13- 07-22-2007, 05:21 PM Guys i am going to buy one of these exhausts, either perf or touring, but i cant figure out which one. I am an auto, and i dont want to be like a friends civic auto that the sound just keeps going, its so annoying. so would the peformance on an auto be too loud and annoying? anthonyS88 07-22-2007, 05:22 PM im convinced lol. for the little extra cash you know you are getting something from gm which you know isnt a bs piece that has poor fitment. trust me i went with obx exhaust on my focus and spent 100 bucks just to get it to fit lol i bet getting exhaust from a muffler shop is cheaper and better but i want to play it safe incase i have to bring my car to the dealer in the future i was also going to ask about perf and touring like moza13 did i know touring is more money but wtf is the difference L.P. 07-22-2007, 05:29 PM im convinced lol. for the little extra cash you know you are getting something from gm which you know isnt a bs piece that has poor fitment. trust me i went with obx exhaust on my focus and spent 100 bucks just to get it to fit lol i bet getting exhaust from a muffler shop is cheaper and better but i want to play it safe incase i have to bring my car to the dealer in the future i was also going to ask about perf and touring like moza13 did i know touring is more money but wtf is the difference Dealerships really don't care much about cat backs and such, only thing they really care about is if the Cat has been tampered with. Though I would still go with GMPP, holds up well sounds great...plus some of you guys have talked about getting a shop to make you a catback...even though the piping would be bigger going custom over stock does that mean that it would flow better? Got to think about how much piping is used and how its bent....if you do go to a shop to get it done make sure they do mandrel bends and not crushed bends, becuase I know where I live there is nowhere that has a mandarel pipe bender....just my .02 cents. Onyxd04Redline 07-22-2007, 05:56 PM couldnt have said it better myself You know nothing about factory's warranty's do you. A catback does NOT void anything. Altiery54 07-22-2007, 06:00 PM You know nothing about factory's warranty's do you. I need a laugh Altiery54 07-22-2007, 06:02 PM Enlighten me on what it void's. I need a laugh i have no idea going by word of mouth. if it doesnt void the warrenty thats all u have to say. u dont have to be a smart ass about it but if thats what gets u off go for it i guess Onyxd04Redline 07-22-2007, 06:07 PM i have no idea going by word of mouth. if it doesnt void the warrenty thats all u have to say. u dont have to be a smart ass about it but if thats what gets u off go for it i guess Exactly. Just another noob spewing shit that he "thinks" is right. An exhaust doesn't void the warranty... Plain and simple. R&C_rallySS 07-22-2007, 06:25 PM Exactly. Just another noob spewing shit that he "thinks" is right. An exhaust doesn't void the warranty... Plain and simple. Why are you giving false information out? If you put a aftermarket cat back on the car it very well COULD void your warnity. I'm not saying instantly you void it. I'm saying some dealers could have a problem with it and void it. From what I understand any after market part on the car and the dealer can be a dick about it. Besides, how can you beat Crate Engine Depot's prices on a GMP backed part? So if you do have a problem with something no questions asked, all GMP = full warnity no issues. Could be a hassle with a differant catback... Guess my main point is the GMP is a awesome peice in which will be backed 100% without hassle. Can't say the same for non GMP parts. Stiner 07-22-2007, 06:30 PM Exhausts for our cars are pretty lame they dont give much power gain and I think you sound dumb when you are loud and not that fast Shortbus 07-22-2007, 07:00 PM Exhausts for our cars are pretty lame they dont give much power gain and I think you sound dumb when you are loud and not that fast end yourself please. JKennedy1612 07-22-2007, 07:07 PM Here's how it sounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDGuaDziepM And: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAcDyZCuAew anthonyS88 07-22-2007, 07:16 PM i think the gmpp exhaust sounds sick stiner you need to understand that every little bit of extra hp counts it just makes you that much faster then the other guy JKennedy1612 07-22-2007, 07:22 PM 2.25" is good enough. Any bigger it starts to get really damn loud. Not recommended for a daily driver Stiner 07-24-2007, 05:06 PM i think the gmpp exhaust sounds sick stiner you need to understand that every little bit of extra hp counts it just makes you that much faster then the other guy I know every bit counts I'm just saying until its really limiting power than leave it stock. Like if your first mods are intake and exhaust on our cars you're an idiot sneaky 07-24-2007, 05:12 PM I know every bit counts I'm just saying until its really limiting power than leave it stock. Like if your first mods are intake and exhaust on our cars you're an idiot That was the first two things on my modification list and guess what? It easily netted me 20whp so please tell me that it was a waste of money and I'm an idiot. nich7601 07-24-2007, 05:39 PM I know every bit counts I'm just saying until its really limiting power than leave it stock. Like if your first mods are intake and exhaust on our cars you're an idiot What exactly should the first two modifications be then, anyways? l337m4573rpyr0 07-24-2007, 05:44 PM Myself and a friend both have SS/SC's with similar mods. He has the GMPP sport and I have MR exhaust. While we haven't dyno'ed the cars, they both "feel" identical in terms of power. I think the MR and the GMPP even have a similar tone. The big difference is the MR is significantly louder. (It does come with a silencer, though). If you don't mind the extra noise with the silencer out, I would say the MR will give you the best bang for the buck (Cheaper retail and GB going on right now). However, I definitely can't fault the GMPP either. chad463 07-24-2007, 09:49 PM I have the gmpp performance exhaust and it sounds awesome. Very good deal from crate engine depot. |
