don't spend $65 to get it installed. if you don't have a jack and jack stands buy some, thats something I think everyone should have. thats really all you need to install it yourself.

its like putting together a 3 piece jig saw puzzle. I hope you can figure that out.

Wow, I think $65 would be worth it to not mess with the cutting. Lets not start getting upset at people who want to pay to have something done.

I payed $50 and it took 30 min. for my local Muffler Shop to do.
If you don't have a way to cut your old exhaust off it could be a pain to install.
Just to let you know.

will not throw cels with a catback. the last 02 sensor is after the cat on the DP.

the gmp exhaust sounds really good though. i heard it a lot on saturday at rev it up. lol

will the performance exhaust hook up to the stock headers??

denn454
07-22-2007, 09:20 PM
no. the header is connected to the down pipe. the downpipe is connected to the cat. the cat is connected to the resonator, and the resonator is connected to the muffler. then you do the hokey pokey and, well, whatever.

HAHAHAHHAHA dude that made my day. and it was possibly the best way to explain that. and yes, header connects to DP. the catback connects to the bottom end of the DP.(downpipe)

so a gmpp exhaust will connect to a stock header??

so a gmpp exhaust will connect to a stock header??

NO! don't make me ask you to sing along! lol

the gmpp is a cat back exhaust. it connects to the cat (more specifically, about 2" past the cat) crawl under the car and you will see a pipe coming from the engine, thats the downpipe. the header comes off the engine and into that down pipe. the downpipe connects to the cat. your turn to sing...

wdsoccer
07-22-2007, 09:40 PM
no, it goes header>Downpipe>catback. the catback will be bolting to the downpipe. and yes it will work with the stock downpipe

seems to be some mixed answers....sorry for the noobness.....the stock manifold already has a downpipe??

Go outside and look at your car. Do you know the function of a manifold/header? It's the exhaust that's released from your pistons after the combustion stage in the cylinder. There's 4 because we have 4 cylinder cars. In a Vette for example, there's two manifolds on both sides of the engine block because there's 8 being a V8. People get after market manifolds (which are called headers) that are larger in diameter which allow more air to flow through.

The manifold releases the exhaust(by product of the explosion from your cylinder) through pipes out through your exhaust tip. The other parts, like a DP are ways of breaking down the exhaust system in order to replace specific parts. The DP is connected to the manifold and yes, you HAVE one already, every car does. Hopefully that clears things up a bit.

how big is the GMPP exhaust tip???...straight cut?

denn454
07-24-2007, 04:01 PM
Its huge.

I bought the straight cut one with mine but didn't end up using it because its too big. It wouldn't be bad on an SS car because they have a different rear bumper, but on a base model the tip is just too big, and it hangs too low to look good.

The SS's use different bumpers, the SS/NA (2.4 non supercharged. NA is naturally aspirated, means it doesn't have a turbo or supercharger) is close to yours, except it has a plastic insert in the middle that extends over the exhaust area. it is about an inch lower than your bumper. The tip fits much better with that style of bumper. The SS/SC (SC is supercharged) has a different bumper, look around and you'll find a lot of pictures, it also hangs down a little lower.

If you already bought the tip try it and see if its your thing. if it is, eh, thats great. (be prepared for a few rice comments) if you haven't bought it, don't.

Its a catback exhaust, which means exactly waht it sounds like.
It replaces the exhaust from the cat converter back. It should bolt right up to the existing cat.
