Coolant Modification

Hey at my sponsors place yesterday and we were wondering what we could do to make the charge of the air cooler b/f it went to the supercharger, we looked at the possibility of intercooling it, and changing the resovior (spelling?) and we decided that since the cooling system for the engine and intercooler are seperate we were going to try to move it to the other side of the engine bay (hoses and all) and install a new larger resovior that we could slam ice into for track days. What do you guys think let me know.

I didn't know you could put an Ice box in an Intake system. Seriously.

you put it in the resivor tank to chill the water or fluid, which turn aftect the air density. it is a great set up and usally pretty easy to do

What about adding Purple Ice, Water Wetter, or 40 Below in the resovior? I used that in my Sunfire GT's coolant and the car ran alot cooler. Can an additive like that work to keep the intercooler temps down?

well a friend of mine who drives an ION RL r&d car had a ice box made up for his intake and i've had the same done on mine just a differnt box to fit in a differnt spot, but it run the intake air over ice that you put in the box.we were thinking about adding a small bottle to the bottom of the take to run the intercooler coolent thro and sence the system is preserized we cant just spary it over the ice so were going to try to hook this bottle up to keep the presser but run the bottle in the bottom of the ice boc to cool that down but maybe you'll beet me to the punch. keep us posted

the system jolds 2qts. i pullthe the inlet off, hooked the hose up to it and ran the hose for about 10min. hooked the hose fron the heat exchanger removed the cap screw on top of the heat exchanger, filled throught the filler neck until it came out the screw hole put the screw back in and topped of the system. i put in the NPG-R. i called eveans and asked their opinon for what i was tring to acheieve and that was what they recommended to me and i must same i am very happy with the results

An ICE box is the easyest way of getting your IC temps down. Morroso Cool can pictured below is nice but it only has 3/8" fittings. kinda small. But it shows how a cool can works. The coolent passes threw the metal chamber while you fill the container with ice/water. You can do the same thing yourself why just building a box and filling it with coolent and just adding ice or if your real handy build a ice box and take some tubing and run inside the box. Fill the box with ice/water and the coolent will pass threw the tubbing and be cooled buy the ice/water. What ever way you choose you need to have the ice box on the inlet line for the IC core. That way the pump draws from the core to the front rad. then threw the ice box back to the IC core. What ever way you choose it will help. It will take the temps from ambiant down alot, could be 20-30 degrees colder coolent going into the IC core.
