Saab 9-3 turbo intake manifold

Just looking for people that have done this to their 2.2's and to get some input on if it was worth it for those of you who did it.

I dont believe anyone has done it. I ordered the manifold back in april, and i still have not gotten a call from my saab dealer. They have to order the manifold from overseas and when they did, it got stuck in customs. I should probably call them and find out whats up. After that happened they told me the part # had changed, and they were going to order 10 manifolds and hope the bulk order slips through customs, but no word from them.(the bulk order was late may).

Bay Chevy out here holds it in stock at their main wearhouse, i just have to wait till i get back into home port to pick it up. I do know that i will have to take it to get machined for the 4th TB bolt. Other then that, it has the same bolt pattern as our intake manifold for fitment to the block.

There are guys with cavaliers who run, or who have ran the Saab setup. Turbo manifold and all should bolt up without much issue. However, what about engine management?

engine management wont matter with changing out the intake manifold. its just there so that i can boost higher then 8psi on a turbo. Now for that management im going with the SMT-6 5th injector tuning set up. There is a shop out here that uses it all the time and have already have a 2.2 balt out here w/ that turbo set up on an SMT-6 5th injector tuning and has been running it for the last 4 or 5 months w/ no problems. They have it tuned to run with the normal afr so it dont set off engine codes. everyone knows that the current afr isnt good for making more power but the guy wanted no engine codes so thats what they did.

So as for tuning, im not worried about that. Ive come to accept that there will be no tuning for the 2.2 automatic trany computers so im working around it

And money is not an issue as you can tell by my mod list. it was 5.4k to get my engine work done w/ all parts and labor

this is the best way I explained tuning to my roommate

Tuning is like getting head from a girl:

Bad head can cause to serious damage
Good head is awesome no matter the pace

Having fuel control only is like being able to have the lights on and looking down at the girl goto town

Having Full fuel and Spark control is like having hairnets and rubber bands to be able to push her hair out of the way and having her look you in the eyes while she does it...it's just better that way

Using an EIC is like being drunk and getting head in a dark room, you're still recieving it but you don't know if the girl is hot or not... or if it's even a girl!!

that's how i explained tuning to my roommate

need to add into that. if you use a stand alone wide band O2 sensor in conjuntion with the SMT-6 it would be like that same situation but adding in a flash light to take a peak, lol
