Tint Problem... Can it be fixed?

So I bought my car used from the dealership. The windows have been tinted, but I don't know where or when. I know the car is about a year and a half old, one owner before me, had 4,500 miles when I bought it so I'm guess it has been taken care of pretty good.

I never noticed when I bought it, but on the back window up at the top where the black dots are the tint is like pulling away from the window.

I'll take some pictures once I find my cord to connect my camera with my computer...

I'm wondering if I take it to the dealer will they fix it? Should I even try or will they just laugh at me?

Thanks everyone!

Edit - Seems it happens to everyone. I can just deal with it then. I was thinking it was something not normal.

Most tint places will tell ya that the tint wont stick on the dotted area. The dealer prob wont fix it cuz someone else prob had it installed.

Both of my SS/SC's have the tint pulled away a little bit there.

What I would do is try and get ahold of the dealer where you purchased the car and ask them if they can tell you who owned the car before you. They should be able to tell you who they are and maybe where they live. That way you might be able to ask the original owner where he had it tinted at.

Alot of the tint places here put some sort of sticker somewhere on the car stating their company name. Ya might try and look around on the doors, qtr glass or rear window for that sticker. It might save some time if it does.

Yeah there isn't anything you can do about it. Those bumps don't let the tint stick very well. Some people put a black strip of vinal on the inside to help with that bad look.

yea, dots very rarely turn out nice...most of the time if a show car is tinted they'll actually shave the dots off the window so the tint will stick...i just had my windows done a couple weeks ago and the guy did an absolutely FLAWLESS job...everything looks factory - EXCEPT the dots....just put a small piece of vinyl on the outside over the dots and it'll look better, that's what i plan on doing

^^you beat me to it with the vinyl

the tint can be replaced and a good tint shop can use special glue designed for the dot matrix areas - many tint shops just slap it on there and hope it sticks - in your case it didn't.

Thanks everyone. Seems like it happens to everyone, so I think I'll just live with it.

I was thinking it was something weird, but guess not.

Does anyone have more info on the piece of vinyl option??

Lots just take a strip of black vinyl and place it over. Or you could get a CobaltSS.net decal and it will take the attention away from it

just take a razor and cut along the line where the dots stop... take that part of the tint off... that way it won't peel all the way down the whole window.
