Just some newb questions

First things first, Just signed up (gladly paid the premium lol), Hello all!

Just got myself a 2006 Cobalt SS, loving it, i wanted to get just the basics first...

Intake: most intake models i find on the net are for 2.0L and 2.2L, are these compatable with my 2.4L?

Also do you have some starter suggestions, im open for ideas and eager to learn. Ill try my best not to ask too many questions.

Thanks in advance.

if you dont ask questions, you'll never learn anything

you should find an intake specifically built for your car and motor

the 2.2 intakes go from the intake manifold to the passenger side of the front part of the engine compartment (at least my friends ion is that way)

the 2.0 intakes come from the blower straight down, so that would be no good either

Any 2.2 Intake can Fit on your 2.4. The throttle body is located in the same spot on both motors.

Welcome to the site.

visit our supporting vendor sites, they will have most of the mods you want
I personally gonna go thru GMPP for the intake, exhaust and header, then a XTC DP with hi-flow cat for performance stuff.
oh yeah, welcome to the site be warned, it is very addicting

I'll state this again incase you missed what some of the other said.

Any intake for a 2.2 Cobalt will fit the 2.4.
Any exhaust for a 2.0 (SS/SC) will fit the 2.4.
Wheels that fit the SS/SC will fit the 2.4.

Any 2.2l intake will work with the 2.4l. They mount up exactly the same. I know 100% for sure that the Injen works for both.

Thanks, ill have to do a little more searching. Appreciate it guys. Next time xspyder85x, try not to be so hostile. But I appreciate your direction.

Off the bat, i would like to get my exhaust louder and some extra performance out of it, as well as intake and look into a good boost solution. Going to need to learn the 'flash' situation with adding a supercharger/turbo, since im new to all of that as well. Just kind of a spare time task, but enjoying the new car.

Forgot: thing is a tad high for my taste, so lowering a inch or two might be in the immediate future.

Well thats cool your looking into forced induction but that is no easy task, it takes a good amount of knowledge to take that step and just knowing what the hell your doing, hehe. As for exhaust, the GM performance exhaust is really popular and does sound great for the money. There are many others though that sound good in their own way such as corsa, magnaflow, borla, vibrant, etc. Lots of intakes as well. Injen, K&N, AEM are all popular and have had good reviews. Good luck.

I would say, the best intake is injen (with an Aem dryflow), then for exhaust I would say corsa sport sounds really good. I have all these on my 2.4 along with some other mods.

My Kenwood 1000 watt amp just arrived, [kac-8103] and my 12" truck boxes arrived. So i think ill start building a small pcb that converts the outputs on the stock sub/amp to my setup radioshack FTW. lol

Since im at work and cant look, anybody got some pics of the hookups? Id be willing to put together a newb friendly tutorial with pix, suggest parts, step by step and such.

i dropped my 2.0 about 1 inch with the ssc springs, ride quality is as good as stock, and the performance is better. plus it closed the wheel gap

After the drop:

picture in signature is pre-drop (but its still my favorite picture )
