how do diverter valves work? do u need to be pushing a certain psi?

do not buy one. u have no reason to buy one unless ur going turbo which then it would actually serve a purpose

and all a diverter valve is is a blow off valve that is recirculated back into the intake tract
(or you could say all a bov is is a diverter valve that is released into the air ;))

so with stage 2 im not even pushin enough psi to get any use out of one? it doesnt recycle any boost right?

Since boost is built after the throttle body, a bov/diverter valve will do absolutely nothing.

YOu already have a "diverter" valve - it is called a bypass valve and it is built right into the blower housing - it equalizes the pressure before and after the compressor lobes, and allows the car to function in "suction" mode while staeady state cruising.
