new here, some questions before i buy

whats up guys, i just got on this site. i was looking into buying a cobalt. i was looking into the cobalt ss\na, i thought it would be better to start with the 2.4 engine rather then the 2.0. i just want to know is this car really worth it. i mean i want something, after putting in the wrench time, to be able to beat the usual rivals. i dont know much about cars but eager to learn. i hear everyone saying that they have 2.4 w\ stage 2 superchargers. plus othe misc. performance upgrades. is this all you can do? or can you go bigger? faster? does this car have the potential to dominate alot? just want to know before i envest. thanks to all i really like this site and thanks for whatever help anyone offers.

go for the 2.0

insurance wise, the 2.4 and 2.0 are listed the same

2.4 dont have supershargers, ppl like to talk ****, but they do have a turbo kit out....

yeah, I would go with the 2.0 just because its built for boost but some stuff is starting to happen for the 2.4 guys so we'll see where they stand in the next few months. Right now, I wouldnt say the SS/NA or SS/SC would dominate its class, the aftermarket is still catching up with the car but were getting there, lol. But in the end its still a fun car to drive and if you get a stage 2 package or make your own kit with the SS/SC then youll have a blast.

ss/sc is cooler car and feels better imo and have to spend less money to make it faster

It would be roughly the same, a vendor called Rebel Auto Worx has done the kit, look into it.

Not really. It would be a major headache and cost too much money. You would probably be looking at about 5-6 thousand dollars just for parts installation and tuning.

X2. Yeah and think of all the suspension upgrades you'd have to do just to make it handle like an ss/sc. Theres another $1500. Then the 7 speaker sound system. Theres another grand. Dont make the same mistake I did. Just buy the SS/SC in the first place. I put 3700 into my 2.4 (bolt ons, I/H/DP/CB) and I bet I didn't even make 185 whp. Throw a stage 2 on a SS/SC for $1000 including installation and you re up to 245.

**** N/A!
