alright well it started with machining the snout for the 2.5 pulley i put on

once i got the car all back together there was a knocking noise in my supercharger and my car idles like ass and only got 17 psi at redline

figured there was a vaccum leak so got new gasket and double checked everything... it was all fine but still the same problem

pulled supercharger apart and rotors had a few minor scratches on the sides where they were scratching against the housing and there was now a decent amount of grease/ debris in the housing that looked like it came from the bearing

cleaned it all out hoping it was the debris causing the problem nope same thing

im thinking its a bearing that got messed up but everyone i talk to around here has no idea what they are doing with superchargers

any suggestions????

UPDATES

alright i found someone locally who has worked with superchargers for 20-25 years

he quoted me 250 dollars for a port job and repair (not counting for cost of bearings)

and he said bearings would cost less than 100 and they would be 25000 rpm bearings because i told him i wanted to shift higher than 6400 with my 2.5 lol

so less than 350 bucks for my supercharger fixed with a port job and higher rpm bearings!!

sounded like an awesome price to me but i would like some opinions from u guys also

thanks:twothumbs

They dont give quotes, they told me to send in my blower and they would give me a price on the repairs it needs. I haven't decided if I want to do that yet.

Please note that most rebuilders will tell you they change the bearings on the rotors
If they pull the gears off they risk detiming the rotors and the Bearings are locked into the plate so the plate gets dammaged when the bearings are replaced
So you end up with a bigger problem down the road

dont get high RPM bearing for the EATON.. even if it can rev high it wont make power.. cause of air charge TEMP.. you might be able to rev high but wont be making good power without a ton of mods.. good luck and all i can say is you might end up popin your motor..

well thanks for your worries but as far as im concerned i need my bearings replaced anyways so y not go with higher rpm bearings

oh and the fact that it wont make power because of the charged air temp well thats y i have and am getting more cooling mods buddy

have cobra h/e now
meth injection on the way
and my buddy and i are looking into a cryo setup

jus cause the bearing are rated to high RPM dosent mean the SC will be efficent and like bieing revved like a honda motor... i mean the SC is really only good for what 14 to 16 thousand PEAK RPM not constant RPM(huge difference)..i believe that the you start spinning it that fast for a long time you may get into trouble. honestly what are your goal's? hp wise cause you may get what your looking for going another route like valvetrain and cam's and suck to have an 8 k revlimit.. and be SAFE

well my goals are just to keep building... im probably going to end up at like 400-500 but not exactly have a specific goal... just mainly build the head get some cams and build the bottom end im wanting to keep the supercharger and see what i can push out of that atleast until another supercharger swap comes out thats worth the trouble

and sorry if i sound like a dick or dumb but how exactly can u overspin a blower if the bearings can handle the speed that it is spinning.... yes u are going to create alot of heat but if u can keep that heat to a minimal by cooling mods whats the problem???

I say just go for it. Its your car as long as you do everything right and use cooling mods you can do alright. I don't know if you are going to get much above 300 whp with the stock SC.

The problem with the stock SC is that the faster it spins the more heat it does create. You can counteract this by using cooling mods. The other problem is that yes you can spin the SC faster and faster... hell as fast as you really want as long as it will hold up. The problem is that the SC really isn't very efficient past a certain point. I dont' know the specifics, but once you get past 17000 or 18000 rpms on the stock SC you make less and less power the faster you spin it because the SC just becomes less and less efficient.
