Discussion of aftermarket gauges and function

Alright guys. I am preparing to purchase the Hahn turbokit for my 07 2.4L SS. I am in the process of determining what gauges would be appropriate to monitor the system for performance and safety. I want your input on what gauges you think would be appropriate and WHY. "cuz it looks cool" is not a good answer; I am going for function here. I have already decided that a boost gauge is a must (duh). I am also wanting a wideband A/F gauge just in case i want to able to tune beyond the stock boost of the kit. Any ideas and/or suggestions? I would especially appreciate input from those of you who have had turbo cars before and may have learned something looking back. Thanks in advance guys.

Interceptor - to monitor knock and iat2 temps
Wideband - to monitor the AFR
EGT - to monitor exhaust temps
Oil Press - Make sure turbo is getting oil, make sure engine is happy.

i agree with all of the above...you already will get a boost, your going to buy an AFR, i'd get an interceptor (it can monitor a LOT, but knock is the biggest one to watch), and oil pretture is big too....i'd keep your DIC displaying coolant temp to save you from buying another gauge...and if you have an auto (which im sure you dont since the kit doesnt work on autos yet) get a trans temp gauge

thats just about everything

the car has a low oil pressure light built in to it. do you think its necessary to have a seperate oil pressure gauge? also, what is this interceptor you are talking about? i dont think i have heard of that.

Look into the dashhawk it will monitor just about everything you need, & probably be cheaper then buying seperate gauges... And as soon as the Hawkeye comes out it will support a Wideband too.. & it works on the 2.4

my only issue with the dashhawk is it doesnt look as nice as a round gauge. I admit its a LOT better than an interceptor...but the interceptors look better

I would go with wideband or go with some Autometer gauges. I got Carbon Fiber Autometer gauges in my other car and I love them. Autometer is what most race cars also use

if u get an oil pressure gauge make sure its electronic unless u mount it under the hood.. dont want an oil line running to the gauge in the car

Wideband one that has a analog sweep is nice along with a digital readout. Allows for a quick glance at a needle when you are driving but still has the digital display to look at for tuning.
EGT
Boost
Aeroforce or Dashhawk.

Everyone pretty much covered it I think.
