Winter is coming...:(

Well winter will be here soon enough so I was wondering how the SS does in the snow up here in ct. I drove my cobalt LS for 2 years in the snow no problem but this car is like a whole new world. I do have LSD which should help me but im kind of worried about the front lip. Let me know if its time to find a beater jeep for the winter.

The LSD does help. But the main issues is the stock pirellies. They are not made for the snow thus meaning they suck in the snow. Get winter tires and beater rims. It would defiantly make things better.

Lol. This guy wasn't around last winter for the fifty threads about Cobalts wrecking because of snow/ice. Welcome to one of the worst car buying decisions in terms of wintery weather. My advice to you is to pick up some winter rims and tires

I made it though a huge storm w/ my 17" V-rated Dunlop Winter Sport M3's and had no problem in that storm that even stopped 4wd SUV's (w/ all season rubber) in their tracks!!!

buy some good snow tires and you'll be impressed at how well the SC will do

Get some snow tires and it handles as well as any other car on snow and ice. If you keep it out of the boost you should be okay. This will be my third winter in the cobalt and I've yet to get stuck or slide into a curb.

i have the SS 2.4 and as long as there's some decent tires on it i've never had any problems. however like they said the stock pirelli's suck in the snow. plus the lsd should help ya out too.

If you have the lower grill insert.... remove in deep snow as it will pop out when the front lip gets pushed up!.... I ended up running over mine trying to get into a buddies unplowed driveway

what do you guys think, any car with summer tire on it is terrible in the snow and the cobalt ss/sc is not a racing car. its very good in the snow like any other front wheel car. just get good winter tire and there ya go. its probably better than most of fwd car you can see on the streets because of the LSD.

Yea. I already stated that the tires suck for snow. The LSD does help bunches too.

I do not drive my baby (SS/SC G85) in the winter. I went and bought a winter rat. I cant stand the salt all over my car. It will just make me mad to see it plus when I bring it out in the spring it feels like a new car.

Regardless of how good your car handles in the snow, it all depends on the driver... If your not used to snow driving, or you drive like an idiot.... Nuff said ;-)

15" rims won't fit over the front calipers (well they will if you grind the calipers a bit), but 16" is the smallest you can go without modifying.

My old Z24 rotted apart from 19 years of salty, slushy winters. This won't be happening with my SS S/C. At least not this year, i'll be away at college so I have no need for a car. She will sit in a nice garage until spring arrives.

Hey you're in glens falls that's cool. I'm in Colonie, a town between Albany and Schenectady.

Hit up www.tirerack.com they can tell you a whole bunch of info for tires and wheels for our cars. Just plug in the vehicle info and there ya go.
