What? A custom tune or a stage 2 reflash?
They went from the Stage 2 tune to the stock flash. I don't know why but you'd need to get the Stage 2 flash again.

You should call you parents and tell them you lost your tune and they'll say where were you when you had it last?

ha ha my parents said to go back and look on the floor of the dealership but they are closed today. ha ha
no really will gm reprogram it back in... the car was bought used with whatever tune was in it. so im guessing it was a stage two. do they have to do anything crazy to get the stage two tune back in the engine

Are you serious?! lol! A good way to check Is to see if there is blue bolts holding the pulley on. But If there is a stage 2 and they reflashed it back to stock you car would be running like poo.

there are no bolts holding my pulley on. it was pressed. my brother in law has a stock cobaltss and his pulley is about a quarter inch bigger than mine. thats my only gauge to it

Where do you live, bud?
If it's pressed on, then you don't have Stage 2... somebody had a custom tune on there. You kind of need to check the injectors to see what size they are. STock tune on 42.5# injectors could be slightly inefficient for you.

There are companies that make press on pulleys... they are just a little bit harder to find.
Either way, if it's smaller... you had a custom tune. You'll probably need to find someone on here with HPTuners... become friends... and have him custom tune it for you.

Just FYI:
GM cannot give you any other tune than what is registered to your VIN number, even if they wanted to. Since your car does not have a Stage 2 tune registered with it, they can't do anything. That's why you can't really sell a used stage 2 kit unless the buyer has access to HPT or similar.
Also, whenever GM scans for codes, they will check and see if there are any updates available for your PCM, which it will look like it needs if it is a custom tune. Then, when they DL the tune from GM, it gives them the up-to-date stock tune.
So, for those who have, or think they might have a custom tune, do NOT let GM flash your car under any circumstances unless you have a backup!

You are in luck. Fred from SMG Autosports happens to tune cobalts with HP tuners in Mass. He is a supporting vendor here. He tuned my car. A Few days ago he got 40 hp out of a cobalt w/ a tune alone.
I will PM you his number.
